Really does warrant a thread, All swift discussion here

I honestly find it unbelievable how he can be BOG for Claremont, one week and then be almost deplorable yesterday. Still found 18 possies. But led the team in clangers :o

If anything he has improved his ability to find the ball. He just butchers it when he has it and doesn't seem to be the best tackler.

He is not best 22 at this point in time. More than likely will be dropped again for Kerr or Stevens
I personally don't think he will make it in the AFL.

apart from yesterday he hasn't been too bad for us.... decision making in a ways off though.... maybe he just can't make the jump from WAFL....

Are you potting a young player?

I thought that had been stamped out of the WCE board.

Some knee jerk over reactions on here, but most of the criticism on his game is warranted.

I'm a supporter of his, but last night's game was unnacceptable. He seems like he plays every game scared of ****ing up, so he might only need one good AFL game to get the confidence he needs.

It has to be decision making. I'd prefer if he did kick long to a 1v 1 or 2v2 contest.

Instead of trying to attempt these cute short kicks which ultimately lead to out of bounds on the full or a turnover to the opposition. :(

same, i'm a big swift fan but yesterday's effort was just dismal. don't be fooled by his WAFL stats, many claremont fans i've talked to all say he makes the same mistake he does in the AFL, his decision making isn't up to scratch, and just picks up the cheap stats. another issue is his large ego, his arrogance needs to go if he wants to succeed, thinks too highly of himself. a member of our great club, and i won't name names, called him an arrogant w***er.

This thread won't last long. Swift was really bad in the last games. He never plays on, gets the ball and just stop and then do this stupid short passes which turns over the ball. Don't think I've seen him run and carry the ball on the weekend. He needs to take the game on.

Can't be easy how he has done it recently, he's been in the wafl, then in the side as a sub (or subbed off can't recall exactly) then back in the wafl then back in the team.... if he could play 4 quarters with the same 20 guys for a couple of weeks I think he would improve.

Look at Lycett yesterday, there was a couple of times he just didn't know which way Lecca was going to run or what he was going to do because he hasn't played in the same forward line as him. I know he's a first gamer but I think the same principle applies. I'd like to know when the last time Swift played 3 games in a row for the Eagles. Would it be the back end of 09?

Yeah someone said yesterday in the thread that got removed, who was at the game, that they heard Shuey yell "****ing useless" when Swift ignored Shuey's lead or something.

That would make life hard out there.

Intresting if true. Swift could be a good player but at the moment is hurting the team. Don't worry about his development so late not the season. We are a legitimate chance for top four and a preliminary cannot be carrying passengers.

Turns it over, kicks to 2 on 1s in favor of opposition.
Doesnt appear to have the footysmarts yet.
What good are disposals, if you do nothing useful with them?

if he's hated among the playing group that certainly wont help..... never really looked like he took his pre-season on either, just sort of cruised through it.

I don't think he's developing at the same level as the rest of he group. Being left behind unfortunately.

It would make life VERY hard from what I understand their a very close knit group

I'm thinking it was more the execution of his kicks yesterday, not the decision making.

He kicked high floating lollipop kicks to short options, giving the opposition time to either get under it or get a hand to it. Sharper/lower/more urgent passes would have been the difference yesterday instead of the oopsy daisy up and unders.

Needs to be delisted.
Hasn't played 30 games yet, but playing inconsistent footy.

Unacceptable.

to be honest i think the only reason people on this board still like him is because of his two great games in 2009 (essendon/richmond)

He has talent, if he has the right attitude and is prepared to work hard on his deficiencies then he will be a good solid player.
He just looks to lack urgency at times and dose'nt hit the contest at pace.
IMO he is a creative inside midfielder that ATM dose'nt have the body to play that role now.

When he gets the ball he looks to chip short to an easy target or sideways to shirk the responsibility. Doesn't seem to have much confidence and knows how flimsy his position in the team is.

He still needs to work on his kicking so when he has the ball he can actually move it forward to an advantageous position, not just mark it and then chip it off to the next person down the line, thinking that is job done.

Also needs to start winning clearances while on the move.

Back to the WAFL he will go, I just hope he understands his deficiencies and is working hard on improving them, because if he doesn't, he won't make it.

He was horrible yesterday.

His arrogance needs to go?

****, as long as he puts in all the preparation and dedication he can (which by all reports he does), I'm happy for him to be as arrogant as possible. The style of play he was lauded for was one so confident it bordered on cocky, and now he seems to have lost it.

I'm glad Cuz, Judd and Kerr never seemed arrogant at all, otherwise they might never have been such great midfielders.

Get that strut back.

cant believe this thread is up+running again..
i can feel the hand of god looming above me, ready to flick my head off my shoulders for daring to criticise the Swift one..

but if swift does have some attitude/ego/personality problem going on with other teamsters..then that may explain some things..he does seem to be playing in his own world or something..cant quite put my finger on it..like he's a little detached from the rest, and the game??...and if he's copping flak from others onfield-wow-that makes it tougher.

personally i'd rather see koby stevens get more game time now-he's got the readymades for a mid..and hits like a hard ass!
