Sydney has become unappealing due to its ridiculous real estate floor.

If you have a house then it's no different to anywhere else. It's not like Norway or Switzerland where a beer or a kebab costs $20. If you don't have a house then you need a 6 figure salary. Eff that, I'd rather just live in Melbourne and pay less in rent or home loan interest.

Got billeted out in Sydney on a U14's WA rugby tour, first stop Parramatta/Seven Hills, massive eye opener.

Then we stayed in traditional rich campaigner rugby union territory like Manly, Narrabeen and Warringah.

We stayed in some nice places but there was some bloody weird units getting about there.

People that didn't know Perth existed or where it was on the map, maybe that's normal for Sydneysiders.

When i lived here back in the old days i played AFL for Baulkham Hills.
We had 2 teams ( Kookas and Hawks ) , i remember 1 year a vic club came up to play us.
Had 2 vic boys stay with us , we took them to the movies ( Backdraft ) , had a great time.
Ended up standing 1 of them late in the game , we had merged our 2 teams and towelled them.
He got salty and i cracked him 1 lol.

Sydney is affordable if you think that it is not the be all or end all if you don't live by the beach, harbour, Botany Bay or within 10km of the city.

I lived in an affordable suburb in a more western part and I still had a better time than living in Perth and got by fine.

Lockouts are shit, but still had a pretty great night last night, hopping through Surry Hills and Darlinghurst. The Sydney bar scene is severely underrated, particularly by Melbournians who believe they have a monopoly on it. But in terms of quality venues they really are pretty much even. There's even an excellent bar that opened up in Parramatta late last year, and a heap of more bars coming soon.

Also I have to say it's pretty entertaining walking down a major city street at 3:15 as everyone has been chucked out of venues all simultaneously. People blare music from cars and have small street parties, and I saw one dude who was basically dragged down the road by his two friends who would stop to make out with random passersby.

These storms at the moment are ****ed though.

These 2 unremarkable homes in BLACKTOWN, that's right folks, BLACKTOWN, 40km west of the CBD both sold for over $1million the joint is officially ******.

When the bubble explodes, there will be carnage.

Indeed, and its got to the point where its not only the property speculators and the "up to the balls in debt" will suffer.

Horrible knock-on effects await.

seriously? who would live in Sydney, if a house in Blacktown is $1+m.

I really feel for kids these days.

Its like they arent even aware that Australia has other beaches. And the way they bang on about the bridge? Civilizations have been using man made contructs to connect two bits of separate land for thousands of years, not seeing the big deal here...

leaving mum can be hard though

There's much more to a city than beaches and river. It's why Sydney is such a popular place to live.
