The free market does not mean that everyone can have what they want at the price they want.

No, what happens is the free market meets demand by supplying a product. If there was a whole city in the world with no cars, yet every person in that city knew what a car was etc and could utilise one, and worked for a median income, do you know what would happen in a free market?

Yep, you guessed it, competition amongst suppliers to supply the people with cars. Bam! Free market capitalism at its finest. Yet in the dumb housing market...

Can you afford to purchase any car you want ?

Don't need to. I only am interested in purchasing a car.

Nothing is stopping you buying a house though is it?

Nevermind where that house is located (unlike a car, it can't be easily relocated) or what features that house comes with.

Your abject hatred for pretty much every aspect of a western democracy is amusing, I fail to understand why you bother living here, let alone engaging in supporting an AFL side that is based in the most expensive city in the country.

Been through this before, tell all median income Australians to buy a house in Mildura. I've responded to every excuse you have given. You have to imagine up a new one. What about "climate change"? Surely you could throw that one in.

In fact instead of listening to me, why not listen to what some of the people on the top say about this, and notice how they make no mention of people moving to regional centres if they want to buy a house, they don't mention that people who don't like high house prices are socialists, or whatever other garbage you expect people to swallow

Tony Abbott - "As someone who, along with the bank, owns a house in Sydney I do hope our housing prices are increasing"

Joe Hockey - "Treasurer Joe Hockey has advised Australians wanting to buy their first home to "get a good job that pays good money""

That guy was shown to be legit wasn't he?

You want to be able to buy a house of your choosing, in the location of your choosing, at the price of your choosing. Irrespective of whether or not land is available. And you want the Government to build it, using publicly appropriated funds, and allow you to pay it off over an extended period of time. Because if none of the above occurs, then that very 'gubmint' are human garbage only concerned about 'munny'.

Regardless of whether he is or not it demonstrates the real reason why housing prices are high, if this were not the case the solution is simple. Simple solutions to simple problems.
10 or 15 years ago negative gearing wasn't an issue but recently it has become one. I think if you look under the sheets population is the real issue for the housing situations.

Nope I live in the real world so I know that people on median income comprise a large portion of people and buying a house in Mildura wouldn’t help them, nor Sydney, but most especially of all, this won’t help people renting out their properties.

Secondly I’m under no illusions the people in power are even interested in trying to mitigate housing affordability, I only demonstrated the solution is simple. The funny thing is, the free market and the people in power can always prove me wrong.

Government uses publicly appropriated funds all the time to provide infrastructure, should they stop doing this?

Nope, the car industry would be suffering from the same fate.

You've not demonstrated anything; you've put forward your idea for what might work.

Everything comes back to those pesky people in power trying to keep poor downtrodden champion of the people RupieDupie from buying a house I guess.

Nope median income Australians. The people who most of the work. Why do you think they’re having a royal commission into banking at the moment?

Well the gubmint human garbage couldn't possibly sanction their bank mates at the top, so i'm sure the outcomes will be uneventful.

Finally you’re talking sense. And I’m sure you haven’t been reading of the fallout from the banking commission thinking to yourself “what nice people, I’m glad they’re in charge of the Financial Sector”. You’re wasting your time trying to convince me with excuses dished out to plebs who have suffered a frontal lobotomy.

Simple reasons behind simple problems requiring simple solutions.

I look forward to you taking control of an island in the Pacific to demonstrate how simple to create this utopian paradise is.

You said simple solutions to simple problems. Given it's so simple i'm just looking forward to relocating when you've established your utopian paradise. Since you're the purveyor of simple solutions.

Can’t even swallow your own argument I see. And I didn’t even get started on the Royal Commission into institutional abuse...

Oh we're changing topics again? Tax systems, house prices, banking, institutional abuse... what comes next I wonder?

Would you describe the people on top in the Catholic Church as members of the group “people on top”? It seems you’ve forgotten what this argument is even about.

Still refusing to swallow you’re own argument I see. I know the reason why, you know the reason why... let’s not beat around the bush here. You’re wrong.

It's basically payback for the debt and deficit budget emergency narrative as negative gearing only became an issue when the left went looking for alternatives to the 2014 federal budget.

You're the one calling everyone and anyone you dislike names, I'm just taking amusement from your intense feelings towards entire groups of people you've never met, which appears to be a large proportion of the country.

It's not just those at the top you're against, it's any homeowner trying to sell their house above cost price that is human garbage too it seems.

Hard to keep up with who you'll take aim at next.
