The 'They Lied' thread

Hi folks

I have received some concerns over the 'They Lied' thread, with the current info being that the Crows are possibly considering legal action against those claiming they lied or covered up anything in relation to Carey over the last few weeks.

After a request from the 'They Lied' thread starter, I have removed the thread, for now.

Should the rumours turn out to be false, and you wish to have the thread restored in a few days, let me know, and I'll pop it back up.

Good move IMO. There is no evidence at all that Crows admin lied and the only allegation that they did has come from the media.

Leave the thread down as far as I'm concerned.

Ever feel you think a question or yours is either stupid or already answered? Well I got that right now, I didn't read the thread that closely, just really browsed it while I had a lot of other AFC board threads open - what was wrong with it?

I'm not whingeing about moderating I just want to know where 'lying' came into it.

That's exactly the point why the thread no longer exists. There were a lot of things said with not one ounce of proof to back them up, which exposes the posters to legal action.

Good riddance. All the Carey smart-arsed know-all know-nothing threads should be removed from Big Footy. They were defamatory, ill-based and did nothing for the quality of this site nor the profile of the posters.

Agree completely Macca23.

I hope whoever initiated the thread, who is supposedly an AFC supporter, will be more circumspect in the future and not need to only ask for a thread to be removed because they're scared of legal action.

I have complete faith in the integrity of the hierachy of the AFC, certainly more than a lot of posters on Big Footy especially some from the other side of town, who , frankly, I don't think should be allowed on our board. They have plenty of opportunity to vent their hate of the Crows on the general board. I'm happy to have other supporters on our board.

If the rumours of legal action turn out to be false, I'd still not re-instate the thread as it was an unworthy topic to be initiated on this board. I wonder whether the Big Footy moderators should take more action on some of the things written on the main board. There are a lot of people who, in my opinion, have morally bankrupt values who post on Big Footy

Let's see this same type of even handed consideration when other players are embroiled in such controversy and not just Adelaide players huh.
BTW Carey's legal team are beleived to be handing out writs from today to the main instigators of this whole situation.

Dogwatcher, even tho the original comments included the main boards as well as this board, Bigfooty policy is that the teams boards are for supporters of those teams. It is the supporters right to decide what sort of content they wish to remain or be removed from their team board, as happened in this case. Hell there are already 2 or 3 copies of the thread in the recycling bin. Someone even saw fit to waste bandwidth by posting a zillion smilies as a post in that thread.

It is the Adelaide Crows board, and what may get thru on the main board, won't get thru here if the supporters are offended or concerned by the content.

Well, listening to 5AA this morning, Mark Aiston read out excepts from the "New Idea" article regarding the alleged incident that confirms what we, all Crows followers, have all been saying and thinking. The whole thing was a setup and the two females involved have apologised to Wayne. Ah, now those that said otherwise (and we can include a particular PP respondent) haven't just got egg on their face they have a whole bloody omelete.

Macca mate can you please link me to wherever you said what you did and if you're able to, tell me what happened so I don't have to read what I'm expecting is a thread with a lot of pages full of a lot of anti-Crows and anti-Carey stuff? Not saying you're doing that in there, but I'm sure others have.

New Idea isnt what id call a respected magazine...full of rumour and innuendo with little actual truth behind it. I would like to know about this article, who wrote it, what their sources were and who they actually spoke to.

ok.crows: I cant beleive that someone would simply fabricate this entire thing and expect to get lots of money for it, and for there to be no backlash or fight from the AFC. It seems too far fetched that someone would simply make it all up. Its especially strange considering i know who one of the people involved barracks for!! Im looking forward to seeing this New Idea article, but until i see a public admission from this person that they made the whole thing up then i will continue to beleive that something is fishy here. How did New Idea get the rights to this apparent apology and admission of lies from the two girls involved ahead of newspapers?? That seems mighty odd to me!

And probably very unsurprisingly, this thread is now closed.

The other was closed on request/concern from a number of Crows supporters, and it seems that others are attempting to continue the issues on this one.

Not going to happen.

Time to let it all go until anything concrete is known about the legal situation.
