Good post. Isn't it nice to see Essendon supporters who in the past expected success, now start to doubt. Their recruiting hasn't been that flash in my opinion. Watson the only standout, and he nearly walked at one point.
Also the Dons starting to get bullied by all and sundey including bowls clubs and the Government, makes me think that yes, perhaps they are the new old us.
Couple that with their weak membership (Carlton in the same boat) compared to us and it becomes apparent that we are the new powerhouse of these 3 clubs.
Once the Hawks drop off in a few years as expected it will be us and Collingwood as the two Victorian Superpowers of the AFL.

Meh - wishful thinking. Lost count of how many times we laughed at other clubs in turmoil and said to ourselves "well at least we ain't as shit as them" only to watch them sail past us again a few short years later.
Bummers & Scum are big end of town clubs that represent the establishment and have huge supporter bases, (albeit more fairweather than ours and The Filth's) and resources at their disposal, they'll always find sugar daddies with deep pockets to see them through. Pricks.

As much as it pains me to say it, I wouldn't mind so much if Caddy went to Carlton as rumoured (how their salary cap is legit is beyond me) if only for the very reason that Essendon misses out when they all think they are over the line. Bits & pieces on the radio and in papers i dont think they will have a chance to get Cloke with the $ and the scrutiny that Ed has forced onto the AFL. Every man and their dog will be on to them. The Judd deal was a one-off, it is unlikely to happen again. Im still hoping big time we get him regardless of the cost.
