Post photos of train stations you've taken or uploaded from websites like VicSig or Google Maps.

Reminisce over your experiences whether they be notable for long delays, weird nypsies or just general stuff.

Some stations may architecturally look good and others may look shit.

You may observe that some stations are in a state of disrepair and that others are a shell of their former selves.

The redevelopment of Ringwood Station is well and truly in full swing.
The old bus terminal's been ripped up and a temporary one's been erected.

To kick us off, here's the obligatory train station system is a joke comment.

They did Munno Para up. When the gov ran out of money electrifying the line, the cut some stations out to compensate. Train hardly stops at there anymore.

Any railway station in India.

5 year old girls in filthy 'party' dresses selling refilled bottles of dirty water.

Standing on platforms with 50 people standing around in silence staring at the white man on the platform.

New Delhi at 5am...rush hour 24/7.

...and that's before getting on the death trap overcrowded and window bars keeping the free riders off the train, but those inside, stuck inside in case of accident.

Missed the summer...it was winter time and everyone was inside. Got ticked off for pointing my feet at a fellow passenger opposite me in this confined bench space and told by an Indian Grandma to sit somewhere else after striking a 10 minute convo up with her 3 early 20's gdaughters...basically I shut up after that and sang every song off 'Born in the USA' in my head...surprising how lyrics and music stick.

No train station within 15min of me but go to Laburnum quite a bit. Right next to Box Hill without the hassle of underground parking, heaps of people and stuff

Local one has about 9 parking bays, So people park in the dirty all down the street

So they put ticket machines up and expect you to pay to park in the dirt on the side of the road where its not uncommon to have your window smashed in the middle of the day and ransacked.

Willliams Landing is an example of everything that is wrong with modern station design and architecture in General. I thought Southern Cross was a bad station but Williams Landing knocks it out of the park.

There is not a single good thing about the station.

With the recent "temporary" closure of the Stony Point line, pictures have been popping up of the stations on the line before they were "rationalised" in the 80's which just come as a reminder of the travesty that was done, Stations that once had some fairly quaint country station buildings that included waiting areas and toilets now little more than bus shelters some still dating back to when they were first installed (80's) and patched up with steel welded where those old pebbled concrete panels used to go.

The Sandringham line has some fantastic stations that would look even better but for some really poor (cheap and nasty) retrofits.

Do you live near Armadale and Kelmscott?

I haven't been to Armadale Station in years. I imagine it's gone the way of Midland and been made a bit less shit.

Used to use Kelmscott a bit when I was a kid, it's pretty much unrecognisable now compared to how it used to be. Oats St sucks and always has. When I was at uni it used to get a lot of passengers connecting to Curtin via the 98/99 buses. Now Canning Bridge Station is open and buses connect to Curtin from there I guess Oats St isn't seen as important, not that it ever was...

Also Jacana is the rapiest (rapeyest?) station I've been to in Australia. Never got on or off but have been North and South on the line (don't recommend the former, recommend the latter for a good 15-20 min) and driven past it and it's just so rapey.
It is a truly hideous station.

I live close to Moonee Ponds station but I'm also within very easy (i.e. 12-15 mins) walking distance of Essendon and Ascot Vale stations. Essendon and Moonee Ponds are both good stations and Ascot Vale is mostly okay, although there is a sizeable area of housing commission flats a few streets from Ascot Vale station and the station itself is isolated from any commercial precinct, so it doesn't feel quite as safe as the other two.

I also live 2mins from Moonee Ponds station. Moonee Ponds is a good area, I have all modes of transport within 2mins of where I live.
I used to catch the train every morning to school, and it was a good station. I've been there recently, and was disappointed to see the shop has been removed. However, I don't feel safe whenever I have to catch a train heading north (towards Broady), Platform 2 isn't cared about as much as Platform 1.

Essendon is a fine station, it has everything there (Parking, shops, premuim station, bus, and tram).

And I do agree with Ascot Vale, it is isolated, and the of parking there is worrying.

Hypothetical here. You drive to the train station for the commute to uni. All the parks at the station are taken, and you're forced to park in the street, which is a three hour parking zone. Class goes for three hours, which means you'll go over your allocated parking time. Do you have grounds to contest a possible parking fine? Is it your fault that you have to park in the three hour parking zone? What do the parking officers expect you to do in this situation?

Hasn't happened to me, but always a little worried when I'm walking back to my car after a three hour class as all the 8-5 workers take the unlimited parking spots.

I think both Mitcham and Springvale feel a bit concrete jungle like after thier rebuild. More so Springvale with the road deck over part of the platform.
They need a bit of colour other than black, grey and concrete.

Dandenong isnt exactly aging nicely eather. The lifts seem better days and the yellow paint they re did last year is fading or coming off.

I'm glad they fixed Springvale. It was so frustrating waiting there for 20 minutes at the boom gates while three trains went by, with a few minutes of gap between them.

Also heard/saw people go under the boom gates instead of waiting on the pedestrian path.

It's still like this at the Buckley St crossing in Essendon. The State Government has no current plans to fix the problem.

I try to avoid the crossing as much as possible, because traffic backs up, plus the traffic lights don't help.
