Coutinho: dribbler, fast, magic touch, great 1v1.illnesses of youth:irregular, must improve choices. To play left coming inside.A future great

i agree with everything he's said here. has all the tools, just needs to grow up a bit. he's still only 20, is a brazilian international. the guy at his best just has that piece of magic that can pick up a team, and that's something very special to have at 20. i still remember his pass to eto'o as an 18 year old vs bayern. brilliant.

as for not playing as much, he's been injured a bit and loaned out. plus when he came it was when sneijder was at the peak of his powers, as well as only being a kid. then he went to espanyol and impressed there. inter have played mostly a 3-5-2 this season, as well as 3-4-1-2, and vs roma they played guarin (great talent) behind the strikers with zanetti and gargano behind him. they rotate that spot behind the strikers between coutinho, alvarez, palacio, guarin and cassani dependent on who's fit. that's a fair few names to contend with. also had sneijder as well until recently of course.

all in all, it's ridiculous to write him off at 20. with the right coaching, there's no reason as to why he cannot become a great player.

Sounds a bit like Gio Dos Santos. Biggest challenges will be consistency and the physical nature of the league.

the difference is liverpool fans should back rodgers to give him what dos santos didn't get, and that was game time. his attitude is different, dos santos seemed to want to be a party boy kinda guy, i don't believe coutinho is like that. he just has a bit of growing up to do, like many kids who have just joined a very big club. from what i've seen dos santos has been pretty decent for mallorca.

You're entitled to your opinion but still think it's jumping the gun, particularly with none of us actually watched him play that much and that he hasn't even played for us yet

I don't care even if he's shit though, a Brazilian with inho in his name, that's good enough of a cult figure for me

Can't argue with that.

So you streamed Inter and Espanyol matches, that's some commitment.

Now who's the moron.

Never said that. Have you ever read an article or looked at match reports?

Where does Rodgers play him?

Who does he come in for at Liverpool?

Game time may become an issue again.

Either side of the flanks, have seen him played out left and right

We're thin there, coz we're starting Downing FFS, and Sterling can't play every game. He'll get a good amount of starts

I would say he would play wide left - so in competition for a place with Downing and Sterling.

Sterling has already played too many games this season at his age, has looked tired and jaded at times. And well Downing is Downing.

There is definately game time for him

as for player comparisons i'd say he's better than ince and zaha. coutinho has played for inter milan, won things with inter milan and played in the champions league. all around the same age, but coutinho has shown that he can hang. i reckon he'll adapt just fine, the old bit about smaller players on the ball has been proven so wrong already. skills pay the bills.

I wouldn't say it's been proven wrong at all. Many smaller players have shown they can compete physically in the league, but many can't.

I look at the likes of Silva for us who can, and Nerys Castillo who couldn't.

But it would be wrong to presume that because he is small he won't be able to compete physically in the league.

true that not all smaller players can compete, but the old adage of them not being able to adapt and properly play is becoming more and more wrong each season. most teams have at least 1 smaller player that are used to run at the defenders. sure not everyone is up to the standards of one of the best midfielders in the world in david silva, but we've seen many players come into the league and easily hold their own.
