The Smith one at the death was probably there, but with so many players around the ball I'm sure the umps couldn't have seen it perfectly. Plenty of dodgy decisions through the game, but overall thought they did pretty well.

As for the Saints last week, well if you're going to do short kicks around the backline when you know they're being stricter on the 15m rule, then don't blame the umps when it backfires. If I was a Saints supporter I'd be filthy at the players not the umps for that one.

We had our share of missed frees and poor frees against throughout the night. The salties don't melt over them.

Got to say on replay though that Smith was HTB.

Why? The ball was knocked out of his hands. Pay HTB for that, and you have to pay 300 HTB decisions every match.

People are only bleating about it because of the time in the game. Truth is it was a 50/50 call at best,25/75 in that part of the ground. The one in the second quarter where Gunners didn't get rewarded for a great tackle on the Adelaide player was far more obvious and cost us an easy shot at goal. I was at the game and we certainly got the rough end of the pineapple umpiring wise, particularly early in the game.

Paying the HTB against smith would have gone majorly against the spirit of the game, player takes game on is obviously ridiculously tired and did try to make a disposal

I'd like to thank Jeebus and whoever umpired that game for the win.
Good to see the $$ Clarko and Gunners left on the table going to good use

I'm so over the whinging from opposition supporters, Twitter idiots and the media about the umpiring.

all the whinging though will start to influence umpires, so I think we can expect things to go back a few years where the Hawks were always on the rough end of the pineapple. Brace yourselves folks, it could get messy

Because instead of disposing of it before tackled he decided to hug it... that's why. That said, the umpires were not paying that brand of holding the ball all night. It was more the dive on it, or one on one kinda HTB that were paid. The failure to dispose was ignored.

He only ended up hitting the post but Tex's mark in the last was dubious

For sure, so one could argue, Adelaide were given an opportunity they shouldn't have had, and Tex then messed up winning the game for his team by missing the goal, giving Hawthorn possession of the ball that lead to the Poppy free and goal. The umps tried to help the crows and it backfired lol

Or failure to dispose correctly!

Let them think it is the umpires who dictated the result rather than our engine room saying "no this is not going to happen". That sort of delusion will only come back to bite them on the arse at the money end of the season. All 3 wins have been gritty displays of the team going into another gear when it was required. It's a sign of a mature team that knows how and when to press home. Another thing no one outside the club is accounting for is that we are doing this with 2 babies in the forward line who's contribution is limited. Blooding kids while winning games is a bloody god send.

I was there too, what a win! Totally agree with this post, too right. Dont hear the complaints that we should have won by 9 cos of that missed one which was far far more obs. Bring on the tears, they fuel our premiership glories hahahaha. They can sook all they want they cant take away that great experience hahaha. Pretty relaxing and sweet life on the back of triple crowns. If we lose i can almost bare it these days. Couple of crows mates of mine took it pretty well, im keeping a close eye on them over the weekend and hope they can get through it. :D

Watched the replay of both just before.

Puopolo was 100% there. Bruce called it before the umpire did, he got enough of it for it to be a mark, and then ball only spilled out because his back was ridden into. If its not in the back its a mark. 100% there.

Smith HTB was a 50 50 call. He was perhaps a little lucky but few umpires are going to call that.

The whinging has been incredible. The crows were 7-2 free kicks 10 minutes into the first quarter. Who's to say that didn't help them get to their 2 or 3 goal lead that they had.
