I'm so over the whinging from opposition supporters, Twitter idiots and the media about the umpiring.

all the whinging though will start to influence umpires, so I think we can expect things to go back a few years where the Hawks were always on the rough end of the pineapple. Brace yourselves folks, it could get messy
Remember when we were doing the complaining about Geelong (duckwood) and west coast? The more we complained the worse the bias got - whether it was umpires showing they would not bow to media maybe? Perhaps it will get even better for us...

Watched the replay of both just before.

Puopolo was 100% there. Bruce called it before the umpire did, he got enough of it for it to be a mark, and then ball only spilled out because his back was ridden into. If its not in the back its a mark. 100% there.

Smith HTB was a 50 50 call. He was perhaps a little lucky but few umpires are going to call that.

The whinging has been incredible. The crows were 7-2 free kicks 10 minutes into the first quarter. Who's to say that didn't help them get to their 2 or 3 goal lead that they had.
If you have a read of the Adelaide board (be brave) they were demanding an enquiring into the umpiring 10 minutes in even though they were flogging us on the free kick count.

The hate, the mob mentality, the whole lets have a ****ing cry about every call is strong with them.

Here's a good one from Adelaide board especially the bold part. Are these people serious?

There were so many, it was ridiculous. The slap forward by Tex which was called a throw. Wot?(He hit it into space) Rioli parry's a ball directly to a team-mate running at goal, a genuine throw, and it was called play on. Burgoyne stood on the line of the square when kicking out, let go. My missus picked it up and she grew up in Queensland and is still only relatively new to the game. What is the umpires excuse ?? I have already mentioned a bunch of others which you didn't mention. Mind boggling, and combined with the fact that it was revealed in the media that two of those clowns grew up supporting Hawthorn, makes you seriously question the integrity of the AFL. The comparison made with the EPL was a good one earlier in this thread. Even though those players dive harder than Lindsay Thomas and Monfries combined, those umpires rarely make a bad call. Including extremely line ball offside calls. No wonder so many neutral fans have been so vocal about the game.

And there is this:

"Fair summary of the last 5 minutes although despite many including me complaining about the umpiring, I haven't seen that many claiming the Puopolo one wasn't there, or the smith one was anything more than a 50:50.

What your summary fails to acknowledge is that poor umpiring decisions kill momentum, and it happened all night. I haven't watched the replay, but I will, yet off the top of my head we saw the following howlers:
- crouch slaps shiels in the stomach on the hbf in the first qtr, free to shiels. Wot?
- Jenkins marks on the HFF flank in the second qtr, play on. Wot?
- Douglas called HTB for standing up with two blokes sitting on him. Clearly no prior. wot?
- tex's free to Gibson in the marking contest. Tex didn't touch Gibson. Wot?
- lynch mark not paid. Wot?
- also there were a couple of frees to the Hawks in the third, one in particular in a marking contest for holding apparently where sauce threw the ball back immediately to the Hawks player who plays on and they run a goal. If someone can explain that free to me please

Yes, we choked, but bad umpiring stole our momentum time after time after time. It was a disgrace and to argue that it wasn't a determining factor is a joke."

Good grief. Perhaps watch the replay first but whether they're there or not bad decisions happen all the time in every game. I'm sure we could dissect every decision and come back with similar conclusion.

THE FACT IS YOU CHOKED ADELAIDE. THAT IS ALL. THE UMPS SCREWED US OVER AT TIMES BUT WE BOUNCED BACK. SOOKS!!!!

How about that free kick against Bruest for contact below the knees? When he kept his feet! Absolutely ridiculous
Or Gunston getting pushed in the back near the goal square which was played on, only for similar push being paid to Crows a minute later further up the ground. It happens all the time. Focusing on the last decision of the game is pointless. Shit happens.

I don't know what you mean, Adelaide supporters have always been a level-headed bunch, not prone to irrational outbursts

This shit just gets funnier and funnier. Sure, the St Kilda game that not 15 call was a mistake. But nobody could possibly argue that Puopolo wasn't pushed in the back. And Smith didn't actually have prior opportunity, certainly far less than what was let go all bloody game.

The thing that instantly makes me question how neutral people are is when they completely ignore the wrong calls going against us. Just before the Puopolo free, Burgoyne tackled an Adelaide player who just dropped the ball. Not paid a free, but that was far closer to holding the ball than the Smith one. Or some of the Adelaide throws let go, just unbelievable. Blatant throws and they aren't called. But that doesn't fit the narrative of the whiners on the main board.

I'd like to give big kudos to the guy who called 6pr and took the media to task about the ongoing umpiring crap in the media, specifically the outrageous comments by mark Duffield

Peter bell stuck to his opinion in that the Hawks do get the rub in critical moments because they push all the boundaries

This bloke needs the wah wah wahmbulance pretty badly from the sounds of it.

Bloody richo and the boys telling Walker how the umpires cost them the game.
This whole thing has turned into a complete joke..
The ones to blame is ourselves and until we get our structure right and kick a big score the sooks will continue to sook..

The Adelaide Throws...

On 6pr this morning campaigner Hagdorn said that the Hawks have mastered the art of disguising throws as handballs

Hawks - masters of all

Prefix on the thread title is incorrect.
It's E-scape goat ffs.
Sorry, man, you're not right on this one...

Definitely scapegoat.

Live and learn, eh?

This anti-Hawthorn umpire fiasco has coincidentally taken off with our most recent success, the threepeat. In 2012 and 2013, I cant remember people complaining about umpiring and how they favoured Hawks. After we won 2014, people were like hmmm these Hawthorn pricks are just too good lets start nit picking this and that. Well after 2015 the very first reaction, from nuetrals and Geelong supporters, was these mother****as are going to win 2016. We must discredit them in any way, shape or form.

Lets just blame the umpires, that helps us feel better because admitting these Hawks are just too bloody good hurts us and our precious feelings. I urge all supporters reading this, who are actually getting cut by this, not to react and fall for the bait. Just send a meme of a salty tears picture- it works a treat.

For those supporters who get a laugh out of it, like me, enjoy the show. Let the meltdown continue friends these are great times. If Hawthorn do the fourpeat it might just break the internet.

So to all these people claiming that Hawthorn is favoured by the umpires, here's some information: since frees stats were recorded (1965) Hawthorn have been paid 30621 free kicks and had 33370 paid against them. That's a difference of 2749 free kicks against. (By far the worst treatment of any side in the league.) At an average of 45 m per free that's 123.705 km they have to make up. So remind me again how hawthorn is favoured?

Nice work GG. Any chance you could dig up similar stats over the past 3 to 4 years.
