OP stated only players that have debuted, otherwise
1) Darcy Moore

He would not be part of a Trade as he would not Offically be on the list yet

Pendles
Cloke
Reid

Then the kids;

Scharenberg
Freeman
Broomhead
Kennedy
Witts
Grundy
Langdon

It's harsh but under the right situation I'd trade out anyone else.

So you would Trade Adams?

Then we would need a Inside Mid again.

I might trade Reid as he just keeps breaking down and that would be taking a toll on his Body

Back in 1993 (for those who can remember), Collingwood needed to satisfy Brisbane with players to conjure a deal for Nathan Buckley. History tells us we traded out Troy Lehmann and Craig Starcevich along with our top pick from memory (which I'm pretty sure they used for Chris Scott)

But just prior to that we also provided them with a list of 10 players who were untouchable (the untouchables as they became known) but all others were on the table. The untouchables included the likes of Graham Wright, Damian Monkhorst, Jason McCartney (yes he was one of them!) and Paul Williams among others...

If we had to comprise a list of 10 untouchables in this day and age, it would be interesting to see how people would rate the current crop. For what it's worth, and I'm sure this will spark some debate, here is mine in order...

For simplicity, I've limited this to those who have debuted therefore excluding Scharenberg and Freeman and it's irrespective of contract status.

1) Pendlebury
2) Cloke
3) Grundy
4) Beams
5) Sidebottom
6) Broomhead
7) Williams
8) Langdon
9) Witts
10) Adams

For those left off this list, I'm not saying they're not valuable and they should be traded but these are the players which I would least like to lose (and therefore we'd need to replace) given our current list position and limiting this to 10 and keeping in line with the 10 untouchables.

I've factored in and injuries and form here as well as potential upside of some players. Hopefully this is the nucleus of our next premiership side.

I think that your list is good although I'd include Elliott Reid maybe and Swan given how much he has given to the club and at 30 years of age you don't get rid of club champions is creates a bad culture. and all our 1st year players actually can't be traded until 2years on the list anyway in Freeman / Schanberg etc.

Why 10? If we were to insist upon an untouchable list, surely we can make it 12 or 13 if we choose.
Pendles, Beams, Sidebottom, Cloke, Reid, Elliott, Grundy, Broomhead, Kennedy, Adams, Scharenberg, Freeman.
I have chosen 12, who are our future. We cannot trade into a draft to secure picks 6 & 10, then promptly trade those players out the following year (unless we really screwed up the selections).
The context to limiting this to 10 was because back in 1993 we had a list of 10 untouchables who Brisbane could not choose from in order for a deal to get done with Nathan Buckley.
Next year will be the year to do this list, the current 10 are nearly depressing.
I almost had the same thought that a lot of the players are based on talent and not what they've delivered to date. As mentioned hopefully they can be part of our next premiership team
Yeah, chuck Swan in there. Just figured no one would want to trade for him in any case.
This is true. When fit he's definitely in our top 10 and I agree with the comment on not trading out players like this as it impacts the fabric of the club. Having said that if Melbourne said he's pick 2 for Swan (i.e Petracca) I'd do it (though of course Swan would need to agree as he's under contract)

Thanks for the feedback.

Reid is an interesting one...When fit he's probably 2 on that list but I left him out as I'm not sure he's body can be trusted anymore. I hope that I'm wrong!

I think you hit the nail on the head. when FIT. I wonder if Sydney and Collingwood may compare notes on the Reid brothers given the both seem to have ongoing soft tissue injuries.

For mine:

1. Pendlebury
2. Reid
3. Cloke
4. Beams
5. Sidebottom
6. Elliott
7. Grundy
8. Witts
9. Broomhead
10. Adams

Pendlebury the only true untouchable for me, anyone else I'd listen to offers but basically I've got about 18 guys that I wouldn't let go without getting overs (add Swan, Fas, Seeds, Keeffe, Williams, Kennedy, Frost, Langdon to above). We would also need to keep an eye on big picture, not trade too many at once or we don't have enough experience to guide development of youngsters.

Swan I have lower due to age and some question marks arising from this year
I rate key position players, quality and good disposal.
I have not included Scharenberg per OP rules but would definitely have him in my 10 otherwise. Freeman, not so, given not as highly rated to start with and his injury problems (Yes MS has had injury but that was known when we got him, no one was expecting Freeman out for the year.)

I think we need to look at our strengths and trade for some weaknesses. With Frost, Marsh & Brown being similar in negating and not the best disposal I would certainly look to trade one. Marsh doesn't have currency yet and has potential to break lines with his pace so keep him. I would keep Keeffe as believe his disposal is better, has more upside (coming from non football background) and offers a point of difference with his height to cover Tippett's, Danniher's etc.

In addition to trading out a key defender I'd have Dwyer, Blair, HL, Toovey & Young high on the table as guys who have some currency but due to age, deficiencies or lower ceilings are players I struggle to see in our next premiership.

There's also another way to spin this and I know it wasn't really the intention of the OP, but it speaks volumes of the current make up of our list.

That is if clubs were to raid our list who would they genuinely be interested in? Discount anyone under 21 and you're looking at about 6-7 guys!

Our pursuit of depth and the number of elevated rookies that we've retained has meant that we've lost much of our top end quality over the past few years :(

I don't understand rating Reid above Cloke in importance.

Cloke has been unable to keep the medical crew busy enough whereas Reid keeps them productive; this is vital for their morale.

For me it's he is 2 years younger, able to play front or back, is more mobile, a better kick and is hopefully taking up less of our salary cap. I'm also assuming that this year's injury run is an aberration that will be resolved.

Struggling to find 10....

1) Pendlebury (simply wouldn't be able to replace him)
2) Beams (unless GC traded Ablett for him!)
3) Elliott (one of very few with genuine star-quality)
4) Sidebottom (we'd definitely receive unders for him)
5) Swan (agree with others, legend of the club & he finishes as the 'Pies)

For the rest of them, if we were able to do a good deal, you'd have to consider it.

But TBO, I am feeling a bit "meh" about things at the moment so if you asked me at the end of our disappointing season (or at least 2nd half) I might be more upbeat on some other players.

Shows where we are at, it's re build time, play the kids and lower the expectations

Guess for me, it's the thing that if you imagine Reid as the sole KPF, attracting the best defender and sometimes getting double teamed, as happens with Cloke, I don't think he'd do as well as Trav. Even fully fit.

But that's not saying I don't rate Ben.

I would trade Adams. Depends on the player we're getting.

Fair point, but at the end of the day if we only have one KPF, then it doesn't really matter who it is, we are unlikely to win a premiership.
