Lisle is an absolute hack! I really, really hope he gets dropped this week and doesn't ever get another game unless he changes his attitude. He is far too passive, and doesn't give much of an effort at all. He provides nothing up forward as he gets outmuscled by the likes of Gibbs & Bootsma, which is the most infuriating thing in the world, and completely unacceptable. He has no idea what he is doing in the ruck which is not his fault, he hasn't got much experience there, but he still doesn't give a freaking effort around the contest which is INEXCUSABLE.

You can see he clearly has talent, as in moments, he does things many guys his size cannot do. He also appears to work pretty hard around the ground. However, he is not nearly aggressive enough at this level to produce, he is soft, hates physical play & the contest. He's happy to just be a passenger in my opinion. Incredibly frustrating.

Gave us absolutely nothing tonight.

PS I'm also sick of the stupid dopey look on his face!

Wut

Haha okay my bad, didn't explain myself well there.

What I mean't was he runs hard and pushes himself to get to contests around the ground, but when he gets there he puts in a poor effort. Examples include marking contests with Gibbs & Bootsma in the last qtr, where he really should be out marking those two easily.

Okay I knew I was pushing it a bit with the dopey looking part... I just think it's ironic that his play imo is similar. He looks and acts like he doesn't care/ is overawed at this level.
Pretty sure he cares mate, cant help how he looks.

Doesn't act like he does either though... Not as much as most of our players anyway. I mean, of course he cares, I'm sure there is no one in the AFL who doesn't care. He just doesn't seem to as much.

No live EPL on a Saturday night/Sunday morning for 3 months or so.

That counts right.

I will sleep much better for the next 3 months.

12 more months of Norwich being a Premier League team! Yeah!

Please explain?

I just have though! Haha :P

Anyway... You never really see him throw himself into tackles, put a big bump on, stand up for his team mates when they're getting into a scrap. Along with what I have mentioned about him getting beaten up by smaller opponents frequently, which can only happen if you're too passive. He also looks terrified when taking a shot on goal (which Lester shows as well).

You can see he has the talent, he's got the size, skills & a high football IQ imo. His problems are all in his head, maybe it's just his personality, which is great off the field. But on the field you need a level of aggressiveness, I think he just needs to change his attitude.

To sum it up, I'm not sure if it's that he doesn't care as much as most or if it's just who he is, but there is definitely a problem upstairs when it comes to his footy, and it ultimately hurts the team.

The Anti-Patfull brigade. I suggest if you have an aversion to strong language, caps lock and angry PFK, yu look away now, because I am MURDEROUS right now.

Seems we weren't the only ones that thought Joel was well below his best tonight:

Voss tried not to pin the loss on his lack of defenders but admitted the usually reliable Joel Patfull struggled against Waite (3.3 for match).

“It's a bit of a downer for him so we have to pick him from that,” Voss said.

But he'll bounce back...too good a player not to.

Carlton last night was there for the taking. #*&%!@% frustrating that we let an opportunity slip.

Carlton is an average side lead by a great coach who got his side over the line.

One example; when Moloney exploded in the second qtr Malthouse made sure that the Brisbane resurgence was stopped by ensuring he clamped him for the rest of the game. Moloney was pretty much ineffectual for the rest of the match. In comparison Patfull was being given a bath and he was left all night on Waite. No other options were tried. It's not as if Patfull is a young player left on his opponent to learn from a seasoned opponent. IMO stoping Waite would have effectively nullified Carlton’s avenue to goal. Voss did not explore other options, such as Staker, Lester or even trying Lisle in the back. After all Lisle’s best game ever in the AFL was in defense being maned up on Dawes when he was at Hawthorn.

Second example; In the third qrt we somehow managed to stay in the game even though we were being outplayed. With one minute to go Hanley takes the kick-in directly down the middle. The ball comes back straight through the sticks for Carlton to take the momentum for the fourth quarter. Hanley is a senior player he should know better. Malthouse instructs his players to use the boundary. During such crucial time for our senior players to be devoid of comprehension to kill time so that they go into the last segment of the game with a victory in sight instead of staring down a larger deficit is criminal.

Lisle is not an AFL standard KPF. Giving him games at the expense of Longer is only prolonging Billy’s development.

McGrath given the red vest, say no more!

On McGrath; no other player has been given the red vest more than once this season. He has received it three times already this year. Admittedly, he was injured on one of those occasions.

Ash has long been a favourite of mine, but he's got to know his limitations.

I actually thought he should have been swung forward in the second half when it was apparent that outside of Brown, we had no leading forwards, a role I think Ash plays quite well.

Remember ash came off injured last night before we all jump on the coach for the vest choices. Dylan makes a good point of Ash going forward, i think we might have done this if Golby was still in the team. Merrett and Golby are huge losses, not just for their single games, but for how it impacts those around them and the team structure. Missing them was like missing 4 quality players last night.

I've been keeping a close eye on our QPW this season. After 9 rounds it comes to (by my calculations) 6/9 which really isn't where we would want it to be at this stage in our development. I just hope we can push on and end the season with a respectable figure.

I didn't realise he injured himself chopper, do you know what he did?

There was that passage of play where he had the ball at HB, i think it was Hanley ran around the back of him and he handballed off to him, but it was a hospital ball, there were 2 blues players right there, they got the ball from the turnover and scored a goal. Ash got up with a bit of a limp, went off, then the sub was made not long after. Didn't look like much, maybe just a cork to his calf or something. The blues player landed on him a bit when he was tackled.

I am putting 2 and 2 together a bit there, but it was right around sub time, 20min gone in the 3rd.

Just had a quick look at the replay on the AFL site, you can't really see anything on the replay. It's Kane Lucas goal at 18:17 in the 3rd. Ash doesn't actually get tackled, gives chase and misses after the turn over, but he did have a bit of a limp after he got back up. He went to the bench straight after and ended up with the red vest.

Breaking the rules of this thread here but it was my impression Moloney also had the same opponent all night.

Ohh cmon, lisle has a ton more potential then longer, plus pretty much everyone had a Bad game, taking it out on lisle is harsh
