People wearing Suns guernseys in my local shopping center. Its Morningside ffs.

At least they reside in the state unlike those bandwagoners down here in Melbourne who got on board because their former club wasn't successful and/or used the excuse for switching sides because they holiday at Surfers Paradise every second year.

People holiday in Sufferers Paradise? Are they insane?

Spot on!!!! And I'm new to this forum and club! I am baffled by some of what I read!!!
Frustration and disappointment and anger is one thing but blatant perceived comments of hatred towards players and their efforts baffles me.
None of the players on the ground wake up in the morning with the aim to go out and play a crap game and play to get spanked week after week.
Welcome to BigFooty. ;)

There are lots of different personality types, all jammed into the same little room. Sometimes it means that people that you would not have anything to do with in the real world get kinda pushed up into your face every day.

Don't be afraid to put the posters who continually hurt your head on your ignore list. It can make the whole ride a much more pleasant experience.

Luke McGuane.... FFS boy has he been stinking it up.

I just really could not understand why he wasn't subbed. In fact I can't actually believe he is still in the team. I mean WTF??? He clearly is not contributing anything - if he has a serious knee problem he might as well have surgery now.

Saturday night's game against the Swans was actually quite sad.

I actually went to it at the Gabba as I am up here in QLD (going to see the Essendon game next week as well). I have to say it was one of the poorest crowds / worst atmosphere that I have ever witnessed at the Gabba for a Lions game (and I usually watch a couple a year live). It was like the whole crowd basically realised we had no chance from the start of the game and except for the first half of the second quarter, it basically panned out that way.

Yeah it is good to get games into youngsters, but you need to give people at least some hope of victory. Harwood, Moloney, Maguire sitting on the sidelines was doing my head in.

Really I would hate to predict what our crowds / membership will be next year at this rate. The crowd of under 18,000 against the Swans was incredibly poor - admittedly it was the coldest I have ever been in Brisbane, but still...it goes to show how low the Club has sunk.

The reason why we are struggling to get goals this year is because all of our main goal kickers last year are either injured or being played in a different position.
Mayes (leading goal kicker before round 3) and hanley are both in the half back line.
Staker and Ash and Rich are all injured.
Zorko and a lesser part in Green are being played in the midfield.

That would be about 5-6 goals right there.

Hopefully this will correct itself slightly when we have a near fully fit group out there enabling players to play in their best positions, but agree our lack of goalkicking at the moment is very frustrating. A lot of the reason the red time goals sting so much is that I know we'll struggle to get them back; might take us a quarter to get what the opposition can do in five minutes.

I don't mind so much the negativity, hell, even some of the ridiculous; footy is an emotional ride after all. It bugs me when it comes from those who contribute nothing for weeks or months on end and only turn up when the chips are down to use the board as a dumping ground AND take exception to people disagreeing.:thumbsu:

Spot on! These bloody Johnny-come-occasionally's making us occasional positive upbeat posters who don'y have much to say lately (coz, well duh!) look bad.

I am a reserved bloke who learns as much about footy from reading you lunatics to have these jokers come in and foul the board up with their negativity. Makes a man not want to share his man crush on Jed's ****ing awesome heroism or his wistful wish for a handful of little Zorko's and Taylors to come and fix his shoes in the middle of the night.

Ahem.

Really. Just sick of the heartbreak and sick of the relentless negativity. This used to be a nice place. What happened?

Oh. yeah.:(

My vent is on everyone's unrealistic expectations on such a young team. We have just suffered a stripping of young players and are clearly working to promote games into a stack of young talented and keen group of draftees and our remaining young team. Blackie is gone, Brownie is in the twilight but still shows the young forwards what is needed, Leuy is injured and Rich who is so influential is out for the year.

GWS have 27 first rd draft picks and have won 5 games in 55 games. They are young. They have an imjection of experience this year and guess what, they are still losing. Time simply can not be rushed.

The young players are working there backsides off to learn and play better. They are all improving and but they are 18 -22 years old and get smashed physically every week they play. How could anyone expect they would play consistent at this stage of their career.

You can bemoan their errors but don't doubt their determination and desire to do their best. Even Merrett makes mistakes and he is a good player now compared to 6 years ago. We will get there and the ride up the hill makes the view from the top even more satisfying so give the boys a break and walk up with them. Don't wait at the top for them to arrive throwing stones as they climb.

What a great post Golfing Lion! My vent is with posters who vent on our young team as if they set out to lose and be uncompetitive and have no sense of reality as to where we are at or the inexperience factor. For the most part, I can let the ill-informed crap go through to the keeper but I draw the line at nasty personal attacks on our players that shows a lack of respect for them as people.

It is a curious thing that happens to some fans I suppose. In the heat of the battle we can all feel hard done by or disappointed by our team. And some posters type their reactions as they think or say them I guess. But it is OUR team and they are our players. Some aren't quite up to the level required but try hard. Some have moments when they don't do things 100%, but they are simply human, with human weaknesses. And yes, they are professionals and it is their job, but that doesn't turn them into machines devoid of feelings or frailties.

Every one of our players deserves respect simply because they are people and represent the team we follow. Fair enough that a fan might feel that some may not belong at this level, some may not be ready for this level, some may no longer be up to this level. But I don't believe for a moment the players go out there to do anything other than their best. If I was a player, I think I would want to know that the fans who watch me each week can be disappointed with my performance if I play badly...but still know I tried my hardest. And I reckon that the players are probably way harder on themselves than anyone else is after a disappointing effort.

I make it a point of only rarely going into our game day threads while the game is actually being played. The over-reactions are surprising, often irrational, sometimes embarrassing and far too frequently focussed on everything negative. It is a shame, because amid all the negativity and the regulation calls for the sacking or delisting of everyone, there are some great insights into the game and tactics.

Win or lose, I am happy to leave the Gabba having watched the Lions. I may be much happier after a win, but either way, I got to watch the team and cheer them on. There are worse ways to spend your time. And I maintain that the greatest joy in following a team is to be there with them at the bottom and stick with them and be there all the way to the top!

I know after a loss (particularly after a string of losses or a bad loss) I can feel a little "Those pricks did that on purpose just to spite me" and "The whole world hates me!" but after about five minutes of wallowing I smack myself over the back of the head for being stupid and remember that even if the boys DID hate my guts, they'll always hate losing more. Plus it's not all about me.

I don't know whether to utilize 2 switches in the bathroom for the fan and light, or integrate them into one, (that turns both the fan and the light on simultaneously.) It's doing my head in.

I have both solutions in two different locations.

When I have a shower, the fan sucks away the warm air that generates from the shower. That can be good in summer, but not ideal in winter.

I find that being able to isolate the fan allows for the use of the vent in a much controlled manner.

My vent is that I am unable to "like" this post more than once.

The best thing that happened to me re: my care-too-much factor was getting old. Even though i have only been an amateur sportsman I used to carry losses for days afterwards. Now I am simply physically unable to do half the things I used to (but I still play) I let myself get down for the 15 minute drive home after a loss, but promise by the time I get there it's the past.

Sometimes you have to realise you just can't do it.

I bring that across to the Lions games' now. Doesn't matter how angry you get we just aren't good enough yet. Once we as a collective realise this we can start thinking more pragmatically, which should allow us to celebrate future steps forward more wholeheartedly.
