1. Drop Dean Solomon, Jason Johnson, Mark Johnson and Andrew Welsh. They are getting games just on reputation now.
2. Find out once and for all if Reynolds, Henneman, Johns, Winderlich etc can actually play. Give them 6 games and if see if they can cut it.
3. Add an extra couple of training sessions each week where players just practise SKILLS! We are the worst kicking team in the league.
4. Give David Hille the captaincy for the year
5. Let's try and get out of this James Hird mentality. Just because he's there doesn't mean he can do everything. Let's try and make a few new superstar's.
6. And for God's sake, KICK FOR GOAL!!! If I see one more player try and thread a pass into the forward 50 when in kicking distance, instead of trying to kick a goal, I'll throw up.

1. Agree with Solomon and Welsh - make more mistakes at the moment betweeen them than the rest of team together - pity coz they were once guns!

4. I'd rotate it around if JH doesn't want it.
5. Nah. Someone like him does not come around often - let's make the most of it. Also 9 times out of 10, if he gets involved, SOMETHING positive happens.

They are also our best meduim sized defenders or defensive players. You reckon Welsh got carved up by Didak !!!!
It would have been a slaughter if we'd played an Andrew Lee or Jay Nash on him.
The Johnsons are out of form but they'll come good. You need experienced players on the park. We are a very young side.
Solly does a lot of intangibles that some supporters don't see. He makes the boys stand taller. Again we are a very young side.

Reynolds has to earn his place. Henneman has had his chances and should only be picked if our talls get injury hit or he starts blitzing them at Bendigo. Johns will probably play this week. Winders is getting his chance and I'm still not sold on him (sorry Longy)

They do it already. Their skills are fine, its executing them under pressure where mistakes are made and its hard to replicate that pressure at training.

4. Give David Hille the captaincy for the year

Tend to agree so long as those clamouring for him to get the captaincy don't turn on him when he has a bad game. Which he will. All ruckman do (with the possible exception of Cox).
Ruckman are always easy scapegoats in losses.

I didn't want to talk this kid up but I've seen all 3 Melbourne games live now plus the Brisbane game on TV AND
Paddy Ryder is going to be a star.
He just moves so effortlessly, is super clean with the ball, has great skills and his tapwork is fantastic for a player so young.
I think at the moment he's playing like he can't believe that he's out there at the moment. He just seems to not want to make any mistakes. When he gets some confidence in his own game he is going to start breaking games apart. Its not going to be for 3 or 4 years but it will be worth the wait.

I agree its frustrating but you have to remember that a lot of the time they have to ensure their is a play in place if they go for goal and kick a behind. With the new rules, if you miss from 50 metres it may result in a goal up the other end 30 seconds later. Its just tactics

That side is far too top heavy down back - Hawthorn don't have any tall forwards. Too inexperienced through the middle and up forward and why would you have Hille, Cartledge, Laycock and Ryder in the same side at their stages of development?
