This is down to principles. I never made a bet, so why have I been awarded the welching badge? It's down to poor moderation on this board so I made a stand

Always thought welching was bailing on a bet.

Always thought a bet had a potential to win or lose.

WR had nothing to win out of it since everyone had no balls to put anything on the line.

It's for agreements/statements too, as the badge description clearly states.

If people are being held to every commitment they say on here then this would be an interesting place. Pretty sure a few people have said they'd rather die than see xyz happen. We pulling the trigger on those too?

No, we take the intent into consideration, sometimes people make those statements purely as a pisstake or hyperbole. "I will change to an Arsenal avatar if..." is too specific (and too low stakes) to fall within that category. It basically comes down to common sense.

Ahh ok so if he comes back under a new name.. does the bet still need to be enforced?

He can get the badge removed if he complies with what he said. The longer he waits though, the longer the term of the avatar change will be. Call it interest.

The difference in circumstances has already been laid out in this thread, he literally said he'd change the avatar if that happened, it's a much different situation to 95% of such statements on this site.
