It is along the lines of
Flour = Flauer
Flower = Flau.er

Perhaps its just the entry of aussie accent - raising voice tone at the end because we think the listner won't understand what we are saying!
Shouldn't it be "What_The_****!"?wtf is with you?

A bit like the different prenounciations of words like 'cure', 'pure' etc.
Aussies say cue-er, poms say kjur (soft j). Had this discussion with an English mate who thought I was talking about someone who stands in queues (otherwise known as an Englishman!) .
