1. White & Farmer are used to punish opposition turnovers. I've seen on many occasions Farmer running as fast as possible to cover space and kick it right through to Riewoldt.

2. Our most damaging players are Connors, Newman & Deledio. Once the opposition finds one of these three, their kicking skills are phenomenal, they set up our next offensive attack.

3. Or midfielders of Cotchin, Martin, Tuck & Jackson work at the stoppages, their main goals are to clear the ball and find Riewoldt.

4. Our defence pushes up the ground and allows opposition forwards their forward line when Richmond are in possession of the ball. Once possession changes, Connors, Deledio & Newman push back along with our defenders to gain possession and set up the play again.

5. Collins, Nason & Nahas are used to kick goals when the opposition's focus is all on Riewoldt.

6. Astbury & Vickery push forward and plucks goals, Martin kicks goals from stoppages.

7. It all centres around Riewoldt, he is our messiah.

Oh how good it is that we have structure!! Everyone has a role and everyone is doing it well. Damien Hardwick is a damn fine coach ladies and gentlemen, from what I see, he is coaching very VERY well.

Looks like his new role for Morton will be similiar to White & Farmer, where he runs into space on the wing and drives the ball into the forward line, according to Hardwick in the HUN today.

Can't wait too see what else he's got planned, should be really good. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Awesome. Can't wait till we lose every match once JR stops kicking 6 goals a game (which he will sooner rather than later) and we don't have a spread of goalkickers.

Though I am confident Hardwick has plans to develop lots of avenues to goal, it seems we are already searching for JR no matter how outnumbered he is.

Reminds me of 'bomb it to Richo'

Rd 15 - 10 goalkickers
Rd 14 - 7 goalkickers
Rd 13 - 9 goalkickers
Rd 12 - 7 goalkickers

It's not like no-one else is kicking goals. Most games we have Collins and/or Nason getting a few between them, a couple more from other talls (Griffiths, Vickery, Graham, Astbury) and then 4 or 5 midfielders chipping in with a goal each.

But you see even with a few other people chipping in, he is kicking 50% of our score usually.

We need a Collingwood, Geelong, Bulldogs (last year) type spread.

I personally think St Kilda looked better without Roo, as they were unpredictable. They haven't looked anywhere near as damaging in his two games back as they look for him and try to hit him up at the expense of others in a better position.

Something I am worried we will get sucked into doing.

ps. It seems that most of the others goal kickers are getting crumbs of balls kicked to JR. Rather than being used themselves.

It hasn't really been at 50% other than the Port (in the mud) and West Coast (10 goal haul) games, but yeah, I agere with your basic point. Hopefully someone stands up as that 2nd big forward but there doesn't appear to be anyone ready at the moment.

The main things I have noticed are:

We attempt to break tackles rather than attempt to dispose of the ball immediately. It seems the logic is that it's better to maintain posession and risk getting pinged for holding the ball than to bomb it away to a 50/50 contest. I find this an interesting strategy as you'd think that the latter option at least puts it closer to our goal. But on the flip side, teams are so quick to punish you on the rebound if you cough it up, so I guess that is the reasoning. I like it.

Second, we own the coridor. By doing this we force the opposition to the flanks where their momentum is slowed and set shots at goal are from an angle. This for me is probably the biggest change in about 10 years at Tigerland. Owning the coridor wins games. It's not easy to do but we are doing it. I actually think breaking tackles is part of this as we maintain posession in the coridor when we break tackles.

I'm not concerned about Riewoldt kicking half our score. It's a very good problem to have! What is different from Richo is that Riewoldt is excellent body on body. He knows just the right time when to double back or when to nudge his opponent away from him. Richo's strength was his contested marking and pace. He wasn't so good at wrestling his opponent away from him.

Our tall backs look much more solid now with Connors, Deledio and Newman down back.

This is one of Hardwicks beliefs. The best ball users sit behind the ball. The big thing i've noticed is how through direct play into Reiwolt, when the ball hits the ground, we have blokes like Collins and Nason front and centre to capitalise. It was really on display against the Dockers last Sat. nigt.

We've got a gameplan that barely changes from 1 week to the next. Obviously there are some tweaks depending on the opposition, but for the most part the players know that their role is going to be the same week after week. To me that is the the biggest thing I notice.

...all good points mentioned so far about the tigers play this year...
...it hardly seems worthwhile for me to add anything new...:D...
...but for me its the constant purposefull contested footy on every part of the ground, every play has become a contest...and every player contests their man, the ball and strives to do the one percentersl...:thumbsu:...
...its not to say we are winning all of them...some we lose...but i get the feeling from watching them tigers that they are having a real hot go...
...and as a member thats all i ask for... :thumbsu:...
...nothing like the frawley, wallace errors where play was characterized by frantic on the edge seat of stuff, finger nail helter skelter play thats
interrupted by flashes of richo mania(god love him!)...where some of our wins were just out and out due to good luck rather than thoughtfull good play...

True. But we have been spreading it around. And Riewoldt is really good at bringing the ball to ground if he doesn't mark it.
