I always take my eldest son to the new exhibitions at NGV. My youngest wanted to come for the first time today and they both LOVED IT yessssss

I spent the day at Adelaide museum and art gallery last year loved going through it by myself at my own pace.

Did parenting change/get more hands on?

My parents never, ever did this kind of thing. They never took me anywhere. I only played sport cos I had friends nearby, I only did drama stuff cos I had a bit of a mentor who went out of her way for me. Grew up in Tassie, but there's an incredible amount of cultural stuff that I never saw cos I only started doing it when I got older, started driving etc

Was this normal 30-40 years ago, or were my parents lazy?

It made me pretty happy recently seeing whole families at a Lego exhibition. Those are some good parents.

Everyone has different parents, my parents did a lot for us but they lacked emotional support for me which has affected me later in life. You don’t get a manual when you become a mom and a dad and most parents try their best.

Mmm I definitely do a lot with my kids that my parents didn't do with me when I was their age. My dad and I enjoy going to art exhibitions etc together but didn't start that til I was a teenager. When my brother and I were my son's ages (7 and 5) we mostly played in the backyard or at the neighbour's house.

I love taking my kids to different activities because I'm not a home body. We go to a lot of playgrounds, but also to the driving range, museums, art galleries, the State Library etc. It's important to me to expose them to a lot of different environments and we're developing shared interests which is so beautiful in my eyes.

I wouldn't go that far . I just go absolutely nuts sitting at home so might as well take the kids to places I enjoy too! Also they're bloody cool kids, I love learning how their brains work and we have heaps of fun together.
