Part 6 is over there:

I think, putting aside my personal opinion about it and her, women’s football would be absolutely insane to alienate most of their female fans by punishing a player who went through what Sam did.

Read the article MEB posted above. I’d suggest that’s a pretty good representation of the female view of the incident (noting no one person is ever going to capture a whole gender).

Didn't Kerr use I/we felt threatened ?

Was that before or after she smashed the cab window?

Smashing a window pretty aggressive.

The police were going to charge them with criminal damage if they didn't pay the cabbie on the spot in the police station, that's why she paid it.

Her partner kicked out the window because they thought they were being kidnapped, not driven to a police station.
either way they weren't legally being detained regardless of where the cabbie was driving

and you wouldn't trust the guy to be telling the truth to begin with anyway

amazing how the details get glossed over so some of them can be used out of context

You get some dodgy cabbies in London, especially ones that aren't driving official black cabs which are more expensive but safer.

I had a night out with a couple of my Aussie flatmates in the city there. we got a dodgy cabbie that wasn't driving a black cab and halfway through the trip back home to Acton he said that he couldn't drop us off there as it was too dangerous so instead he took us to a more dangerous place to drop us off where it looked like there were some of his dodgy mates waiting there to rob us.

We were already angry at the cabble for not taking us home so they called off the robbery when they saw how angry we were.

I don't know if Sam Kerr was in a black cab or a dodgy cab, if it was the latter she was justified in feeling like she was in danger.

You would think a high profile highly paid football star like her could arrange a safer trip home, no doubt from now on she will be.

Surely Chelsea could afford to give her a limo ride home or at least a non dodgy black cab.

It's a fairly common scenario. Witnesses who are in danger of incriminating themselves are given immunity from prosecution.

As far as I know, no complaint was made against the cabbie. Kerr transferred some money to him to pay for the damage to his taxi, which suggests she felt she and her partner were culpable.
I don’t think her transferring the money suggests anything other than she could afford to and likely didn’t want to deal with current situation.

To be clear the facts of the case as we know it are
  • Sam and her partner got in a cab after an event, intoxicated
  • at some point one of them puked outside the cab
  • there is a dispute about the costs to clean it (cab driver says they refused to pay, they say otherwise)
  • cab driver locked them in, claiming he was taking them to the cops
  • Sam’s called the police to tell them they were being detained
  • Sam’s partner kicked the window out, clearly fearing for their safety
  • the cops were entirely dismissive of Sam and her partner’s concerns

Now I say this as a male who has absolutely no tangible fear of police or cab drivers. If a cabbie or anyone locked me in their car, regardless of the reason, I would probably be pretty ****ing panicked and try everything on power to get out. If I then arrived at the cops and copped the treatment they did I’d be furious my concerns at my illegal detention were being dismissed as well.

If I was then told transferring some cash would mean the whole ordeal was over I’d likely pay it too (especially if I had Sam’s money).

To me, of everything that happened in this situation the cop being aggrieved at some pretty justified angry words being the court case is absolutely ****ing insane.

Many of those are not facts. They are uncorroborated assertions made by the defence. Strangely, neither the CPS whose job it is to discover all relevant evidence, or Kerr's defence team, who relied on the 'crazy cabbie' story, called on the taxi driver or internal taxi video to verify or refute the story.

Did Kerr vomit inside or outside the cab? It doesn't matter. Just pay up, especially if you are a highly paid sports star. What an unpleasant job it must be to clean someone's vomit from your car. She should have apologised and given him a big tip. That would have been the end of the matter.

Which of those facts is uncorroborated? Genuine question because from all I’ve read all the dot points are facts.

You’ve just given a subjective viewpoint based on the only disputed point in the whole thing. Did she agree to pay or dispute paying. Broadly speaking I agree with you, puke on a cab ride pay for it. She claims she was happy to (and that’s before we know what he was trying to charge, given the actions of many a cab driver I’ve dealt with him presenting an extortionary price demand wouldn’t suprise me but we don’t have that fact).

Neither team calling the cabbie doesn’t suprise me in the slightest. I doubt he had any interest in being a part of the case given he got paid and if he wound up admitting in any form that he wrongfully detained them it would have been pretty bad for him.

Personally if I drive a cab someone puking on the door wouldn’t bother me in the slightest, par for the course. Inside the car would suck but again, operational hazard.

Neither gives you the right to lock the doors and illegally detain someone though. The fact that anyone seems to think that’s not the lead story is absolutely ****ing staggering to me.

Put it this way, if your wife or daughter was locked in a cab because they puked would you be so understanding of the cabby?

my youngest turns 18 today. i did it, both kids have reached adulthood - relatively unscathed and intact!

Don't sure where to post this , here will do.

Pretty hot 🔥 day today got up earlier than normal .
Took woofters 🐶🐾🐶 down the beach 🏖️ ⛱️.
Firstly just missed low tide 🌊 as it was not hot yet we went for a walk towards the end/ of the nude beach.
They moved the post to the clothes option beach down a bit further.
So off we go I see some doggies up ahead..ok little bit further and we will go back.
Just about to turn around the doggies were running towards us which was totally fine.
But two naked people were chasing after them ,,a man and a woman.ok .

Option 1 turn around and keep walking if doggies have bad recall to bad for them.
Option 2. Stay let the doggies play and don't look to much at the naked people.
Option 3 look like I never seen naked people before and get a eye full.

I went with option 2.
Had a chat with them about doggies etc.

They were free spirit people and nice to talk too.

Had a dip in the ocean which was refreshing.

Booked Whistler for Canada Day week in July. Been doing that for about 6 years or so and will keep it going until kids are teens and don't want to hang out with me anymore. Haha. Different area this time. Looks nice.

Not gonna lie, bit jelly of you mate !

Have a great trip

Fair.

I've been wanting to go to Yellowstone national park for a while.

Tbh I would love to see a Grizzly Bear up close in their own natural environment. Beautiful, majestic animals (and their cubs are just so cuddly and cute)
