Another thing, we wont have to worry about Geelong being a threat this year. Going by previous results, it is stastically probable that Geelong will be crap during the real season because they won the NAB cup GF.
So in a way, it's kinda alright that we lost..... Kinda....

Two of Bryan's errors directly resulted in 2 Geelong goals, he is just too damaging to the team.
This ^^^

Bryan's errors cost the team.
Wood makes nowhere near as many errors, he just doesn't get the ball as much. When he has it, he is reasonable with it.

Bryan is a KPF imo. Nothing more.

I don't know what game I was at but the Ben Reid I watched was appalling. He kicked terribly, even when under no pressure, his decision making was poor and he looks like he lacks a football brain. He could become as frustrating to watch as Tarrant.

Cox also turned the ball over repeatedly under pressure. He looks to be a bit of a flat track bully and I would be very nervous if he is supposed to be in our best 22.

Toovey was excellent-he runs in straight lines and tries to provide a bit of rebound and movement off half back. Daisy was good and I thought Clarke and Bryan , (despite his clangers) could hold their heads high.

Wood looked insipid at the centre bounces and what is it about the two words "Grand Final" that turn Leon Davis into a quivering shadow of the player we have come to love?

Wood being less mobile then Blake for most of the night is an issue though, wood being out rucked by blake is a massive issue.

Bryan is a moron we all knoe that but at least he tries to get involved, and doesnt have our big man syndrome where the forget they are 6'7" 100kg+ monsters and should make players earn their kick

1. Swan can't kick
2. Reid also can't kick
3. Cloke also can't kick
4. Thomas is overrated
5.Leon goes missing when the going gets tuff.

Bryan made some stupid errors, but Reid managed to kick one out on the full, Cox to turn one over directly to a Geelong player 60 metres out etc. I hope Keefe can be fast-tracked. If you say Wood beat Bryan tonite, including Bryan's mistakes, you are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Thomas along with Toovey, maxwell and bryan were one of teh few to keep trying

I could name half a dozen mids that did their reputation more harm tonight then dale did

There weren't that many chances to create an option considering Geelong had most of it and our touches were often under enormous pressure. It wasn't as though we got a bunch of space to create from.

Our midfield (including ruck) is still the ultimate issue. I thought Bryan did well again, despite silly free against Selwood and stupid kick from goalsquare into Stokes. We've obviously dealt with this issue in recent recruitment, but we are still largely boys against men - in terms of body size, confidence and experience.
What im saying mate is that when we did have possesion there were few hard leads and no support runners at all, the guys upfeild were just stagnant and waiting.
Being at the game you could just see that we all went into our shells once the pressure went on.
Would rather have seen us take the game on and lose than be reactive all night and get nowhere.

Opted to attend the NBL grand final tonight rather than the NAB cup - any sense in me watching the replay of this game at all?

Sounds like Bryan and Wood played another nil-all draw.

You might be able to bear the first quarter.

I think we looked reactive because Geelong were so dominant from 2nd qtr on - we were reactive looking because we were in fact having to react - chase tail all night. Can't think of any east play. When we got it in stoppped play there was nowhere to kick and in free play we just couldn't get any space. We were just beaten everywhere.

Still, I take your point that we looked postively listless at the competition. We tackled a bit but not with menace and intent.

Given Bryan's so called strong body he seemed to get thrown out of the ruck contest very easilly by Ottens and Blake tonight. Bryan and Wood were comparable tonight, Wood on a few occasions got on his knees to dive for the ball and Bryan had a couple of marks up forward, however both were average.

The problem with Bryan is he consistently makes these sort of errors that hurt the team, whether they be stupid free kicks or long bombs straight to the opposition.

While our rucks are still an issue, our midfield is the biggest and most important problem, its taken basically 10 years for MM to finally address these area's. Great midfields improve the whole team and are the key ingredient to winning a flag.

Edit: Also players who can't kick such as Johnson have no future in our team, and should never be allowed to take a kick in, ever.

For a number 2 pick. A guy does 2 or 3 flashy things a game and thats it.
Chasing tackling hard running not enough for you?

An old geelong supporter near me and you would get along real well

Thomas was probably best on ground for Pies my friend, a lazy conclusion based on silly caricatures about Thomas.

I rarely consider anyone's opinion to be completely moronic, but congrats, you just achieved it.
Its true me and Smiddaz have often disagreed, i was never moronic.

This should be useless advice for future posting

One thing I am Certain with in the next 50 years! Collingwood will contest 35 final series, be minor premiers 7 times will compete in 10 Grand finals for 0 premierships!

This will be fact mark it down! Its just the Culture of our Club. Like Richmond always finishing 9th and St.kilda with a lot of talented players always finding a way to not make the Grand Final!

I love Collingwood and will always follow Collingwood but when we make Grand Finals all our players go to water! That is Just our Culture and I cannot see it being changed in my lifetime and I'm only 27 years old!

We need an extractor and decent tagger. I would have liked to have seem Barham get a crack as tagger and to see if Stanley could have done some extracting work.

What does GTFO mean? I think it may be the proper response to this.

Beams future extractor toovey is all we have as a tagger, even got the ball from a pack a few times. Stanley in the mean time as our extractor though

barham to be played across hb throughout the season.
