The responses are exactly as you'd expect on a footy team's forum tbl. I'll be screaming my lungs out at the telly in support of both North and the Socceroos. If we shock the soccer world and knock off Chile I may even be able to run to the Adelaide Oval from Melbourne on foot in time for the opening bounce, I'll be that pumped!

It's funny. I don't even actually like soccer. But I love my country and the Soccerroos, due to their country of origin. I can also appreciate the biggest sporting event in the world. Even if it is a sub standard game.

On this, I don't understand how you can follow a side in a competition the other side of the world when you are unlikely to attend more than a handful of games over your life.

I see it all the time on this site, and not just stupid soccer. People loudly proclaiming themselves to be '49ers fans, or crazy for the Miami Heat.

I just don't get it.

I'm really only patriotic about Test cricket. I do love soccer, starts and finishes with Manchester United, but I've never really felt an attachment to the national team.

I take solace in a Manly win, a NYR or Mets win.
