We were sitting 10-3..
On top of the ladder

2008: Havent come up against Hawks, Adelaide or Bulldogs yet.
On top of the ladder, 12-1

What does everyone think?
Better or worse in terms of playing style?
Other stats..

the self belief in the team is there, they have the confidence and experience that they never had in 2007. I think we will be playing our best football from here onwards. Most of our good players are playing well, and we have had minimal injuries so far. I'd say we are in a better position currently than we were in 2007

I was getting skeptical but it really does appear we have been prepared in a different way. Going on the last two weeks it looks like we are really hitting our straps now and playing 4 quarters. Yes Hawks and the Dogs will be the best teams we will play for the year (on top of the bloody Pies who play us very well) but we are playing much better footy.

Also the Dogs were nearly beaten by a well under strength Pies and the Hawks were again handled comfortably by the 8th placed Roos so they may not quite be as far ahead of the rest as thought. Playing without Egan has been tough but the defensive communication and discipline also appears to be coming together again. This may well have been our toughest challenge to overcome this year. Taylor has been bloody helpful.

Well, put it this way. If I was going to name the three players at the start of the year that we couldn't do without, it would have been
Mooney
Ottens
Scarlett.

We've played a few games without two of those, and won very, very handsomely. I'm a happy man with the way this season's gone, to be honest. The next thing to do is to get Tomahawk back into the side, we do look far better when he's playing well. Shame about Egan, but thank God for Harry Taylor.

round 16 and 17 will be our test. Not only playing hungry talented teams, but playing them back to back will be a great test for the finals.

I don't think that round 14 is that easy either. But definately after round 17 we will have a very good idea of exactly how we sit. It's so important to retain a top 2 spot, imo even if you aren't going interstate.

This time last year I was waiting nervously for the bubble to burst and my confidence increased as the season went on. This year I was on edge early in the season with high expectations - but after the games against P.A. and W.C. I feel much more confident. The next 3 games will really tell us where we are but I feel we are playing better each week. I know that this cannot go on indefinitely but I personally feel that we are better positioned than mid way through last year. Saturday's performance was as stunning as the GF.:)

Last years rd6 game against Richmond was the start of our scintillating form, this year rd 10 against Carlton.
Thats exactly 4 weeks later. This year we started pre-season 4 weeks later! Coincidence? I think not.
Our club really knows what it's doing,we need to acknowledge this.

spot on :thumbsu:

^ Also both after losses. Does that mean we'll lose in the finals going by 4 weeks later from our late loss last year? :P :(

Ninty, you need to delete that post right now!
Then again we probably won't be resting Ling, Selwood and Ling for the grand Final!

Exactly right, I think the break will be fantastic as half our side played the Hall of Fame Game and haven't had a break:)

Hard to draw a comparison, since last year we were emerging as a force, this year the expectations are much higher. I think we're probably similarly placed, but of the other top five teams, we've only played one so far (Sydney, and that was without Barry Hall). We play three of them in our next four games (Adelaide, Bulldogs and Hawthorn). After that, we'll have a much better picture of where we're at.

quiet frankly, i dont rate the crows highly, who have they beaten from the top 8?
ive done some research for u guys:
the crows have lost too:
Dogs (2nd)
Hawksx2 (3rd)
Lions(6th)
Eagles(15th)

the crows have beaten:
Eagles(15th)
Port(12th)
Freo(14th)
Blues(10th)
North(8th)
Melbourne(16th)
Bombers(13th)
Tigers(11th)

to be honest last year we had no challengers.... This year we have Hawks, Dogs and maybe a team like Collingwood. I think to be 12-1 this year is an incredible effort and we have been just as good if not better this year as we have been the hunted team since round 1. Gary Ablett is in better form this year also and Scarlo hasn't even been in the side for the past 2 huge wins. We're a better side this year.
