Interesting one this one...

Both are really different players, but it was thought at draft time that Ellis would be taken by Collingwood at number 2...

Thomas ATM is an inconsistant flashy HHF type who can move into the midfield. No doubt as he gets older he will be spending more time in the midfield, but is his inconsistancy is a worry... His good is absolutely brilliant and game breaking, but his bad, well he may as well not show up really....

Ellis 1 year less in the system as he is spent year 2006 at school. Over the last few weeks has been spending greater time in the mid field and his stats are starting to show. Slow start to his career last year but is really starting to show signs of being a good/ great player... Can play as a defender/onballer/forward if needed.

Interesting one here really... I dont think that many Collingwood or Hawthorn supporters would swap their player so i guess its down to the rest of the AFL community really.

Personally what Carlton need is a flashy type HHF, but i rather take someone who you know will give you consistent levels hard work... Therefore i'd take Ellis... Just

I took Thomas, i just think his last game showed he can play in the midfield and hopefully the consistency will continue. In the long run though, who knows?

Please don't dissrespect Ellis like this by comparing him to Thomas. I would much prefer a player earn 20 possesions of reasonable quality each week that works hard and does his job. Compare that to Thomas who does his monthly screamer or amazing goal then jogs around looking pretty for the next three or so games waiting for another screamer opportunity... pathetic.

Lol typical ignorant BF opinion.

Utter Crap - Did you watch his game against the Saints

I'd take Ellis at this stage.

Mind you as soon as Collingwood sort out their Midfield problems we'll start seeing the best of Thomas.

Ellis is really developing as a GRUNT player (Hard to believe with his thin frame) has been exceptional over the last 4-5 weeks in traffic and setting up forward thrusts from stoppages.

Thomas is more of a CREAM player.. I guess in a way you could say a front runner.... (without trying to bag him) But when the pies are going well he will provide the X factor.

Very True. Ellis will be the more Consistant player but Daisy is a kind of guy you want in your side for Big Games and Finals because he could be the Difference in the Game:thumbsu:

Ellis easily. Dead Time Daisy every now and then will get a solid game where he will pick up 20 or so touches. But then for the next couple of weeks will do crap all.

Daisy int he 05 draft IMO would not rate in the top 10 for form thus far. It could change in the future, however I cannot see Dead Time getting to be as good as the X Man.

I wouldn't trade Thomas (suprise, suprise). Once he gets a bigger tank, he'll get more oppurtunities in the middle. He's showed in the games where he has been given a go in the guts, to be very effective, and brings some dash and an x factor that very few do. I really believe he will become a consistent midfielder in years to come.

That being said, it's very hard to say who'll be better, Ellis is a very different player, but is equally effective. There is no doubt in my mind, he'll be a star also.

Pretty close.... If thomas can become more consistent i'd take him. Rate both players highly.

I was looking for Thomas last night when it started raining, being that he's a wet weather specialist and all, but he didn't deliver.

Only had about 70% gametime in the first half, for 10 disposals. Was injured early in the 2nd half, and didn't really play the rest of the match (might have played 10 minutes or so).

So it's a bit unfair to suggest he didn't deliver.

We are saying this after watching over a number of weeks, not just the one week. Also he just does not look like improving the way he is being played at the moment.

Ellis is averaging almost 20 touches this season, his second and that number will probably end up being over 20.

Ellis has stepped it up this year is starting to look like a very solid player.... Thomas is a yo-yo player sometimes a freak others hardly in the game.

So Ellis for me

Ellis by about 3 light years. Some big questions need to be asked down at Pieland over this gaff. :)
^^^^^^

Thomas will still be Better than Ellis - Ellis only looks good in a Very Good Midfield
