Last few games have been pretty poor (down to 58% today). Haven't seen all of the games, so am wondering what others thoughts are - has he gone backwards after a good start t the season, or is it more that he's been getting them in harder positions lately?

Nothing wrong with his disposable today (except for missing an easy set shot)
Judd was at 62%

Murphy's disposal has been brilliant this year. I'm so sick of hearing talk about it. It's a myth. Even stupidass Schwarz mentioned it today. His skills depend a lot on his confidence. As soon as he misses 1 or 2, he worries about it a lot. But when on song (and that's most of the time), his skills are sublime

Murphy: 2 goals.
Fevola: 0 goals.

I'd say he did ok. Judd had 4 frees against him. Jamison was toweled up by Anthony (if not on the scoreboard). The point being a number had an off day and yet we still won by 51 points. It's a team game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging him, he has taken a massive step up this year to become a truly first class midfielder. But the numbers say that he's been in the low 60s after being mid 80s for the first 4 weeks. As I said, I haven't seen all the games, so if its not noticeable (ie not clearly hurting us) then it doesn't matter at all.:thumbsu:

His disposal has been a lot better this year. He can still spray a bit though.

Look at the way he plays though. Often he's getting contested posessions - he doesn't have the time to dictate the play like Pendlebury. He's an inside midfielder.

Kicking efficiency stats are a joke. Murphy has been fantastic this year, and his disposal is top notch.

All stats can be misleading. Unfortunately for those of us on the other side of the earth, we often have nothing but reports and stats to go on. Excellent to hear that there hasn't been any steps back disposal-wise after his brilliant start to the season.

He's been great all year. If his disposal was a little wonky today, it was probably because of his thumb, you try landing a 20m+ handball with a sore thumb.

Many of his possessions are simply getting the hard ball or disposing very quickly towards a player in space. If you put a ball out in front of someone and they pick it up on the bounce with forward momentum, I dare say that count against your efficiency because it did not go directly to them. If it goes to their advantage, considering the time you have to dispose of it, maybe it should not count against you.
