this is what I never get about you WW. you always make these big statements our our taggers, and yet you rarely even know who they were opposed to.

shirley did a top job on gary ablett today.

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

The motto here is never let truth get in the way of a good Shirley whipping.

Shirley did a very good job today holding the Brownlow favourite to an average game.

And never tagged Bartel. :)

Shirley has had a great 2 weeks since returning after being dropped.

Might have something with going back to the hard tag.

Still an important role for him to play in the team.

Typical game from Shirley today, while he was far from our flashiest he did a good job on Ablett and would probably sneak into our best players IMHO. He'll never set the world alight but does his job most times, the result being you have an under-rated player.

He must read BF. We look a lot better when he actually tags rather than looking to play outside all the time.

Re: We lost that game today....

You can point to the tempo footy, you can point to suspensions, you can point to injuries and you can point to umpiring but the simple fact here is that we are not skillful enough to play good, winning football. We can handball properly, we can't kick and we sure as hell can't tackle.

Geelong were a class above us and it was inevitable that they would push it into another gear and blow us out of the game. Its what good sides do and they weren't at their best today. They remind me of us last year and the year before. We are back to 2004 with our skills.

My comments exactly elsewhere. You would have thought we changed jumpers over the summer. The similarities are amazing.

Bomber even said so last year when we pants them here that we are on another planet to the rest of the competition (at that stage).

Our skills and fitness have gone backwards.
Whether the injury review has noted that the hard pre season track work has had an effect and we are trying something different I don't know.

But had we one just two of the close ones we lost, we could have been in the top four, that's how close this years competition is.

hahah nice

Drummond blew in his pants after Campbell's debut with some crazy soup references, yet he rips into Dougie!

This is something some supporters don't understand.

Some good or average plalyers look like millionaires playing in a very good side, but you put them in a side that's struggling and they look ordinary.

Dougie didn't do a lot, but what he did do he shows he has a lot of up side.

Thank god you have no official role at the AFC WW, or we'd be the next Fitzroy in no time.

Knights for Varcoe - God spare me!!

Yep would trade for Varcoe OR Edwards in a heartbeat.

I agree Knights is a fine player, great accumulator of possessions.

I think all his difficiencies like tackling, and defensive game can be taught ....sadly I cannot see his kicking ever being reliable.

Given I subscribe to the notion that top-line midfielders are great deliverers of the ball ........IMO if a trade for either of the two were on the table I'd do the deal.

Again IMO they will be equally good as Knights in getting the ball, are likely to be more damaging with the ballo and are excellent disposers of the ball.

I'll remind you of another loss (like Kenny) when in a couple of seasons all things will come to bear ....so bookmark this ;)

I agree with this assesment WW. :thumbsu:

Douglas didn't get a lot of disposals but most of them were quality disposals and a couple were very very clever ones. Did a fair bit of work off the ball as well.

He's a genuine rover and looks far better when palyed as one.

He looked far more comfortable as a rover than at HB or out of a FP.

He's justa natural rover .....unfortunately AP his lack of body weight prevents him from breaking free in tight qtrs ....but he gets it ok

FFS Macca ....where did I whip Shirley  ......I never commented on his game for the very reason Cro-Mo stated ...and that was it was hard to tell who was on who and how the rotations were being handled.

I asked a question on whether Shirley spent time on Bartel .....and now Iam whipping him :p ......cmon old son be half reasonable

Knights is a better prospect than VB will ever be.
Crap. VB will become a better player than Knights is currently.

They are different type of players. eg. Like conparing Bickley to Goodwin. As to who will end up being a better player, that isn't obbious at this stage. I would be betting on VB though.

You obviously don't watch much football if you reckon Knights is currently in much, much, much, etc better form than VB.

Neither played well yesterday, Van Berlo smashed by Bartel. Knights kicking improved but por yesterday

VB ahead of Knights last wek. Apart from that not even close, Knights >>> VB in 07

van Berlo is currently of more value to the team than Knights, and has been all year. He can play both defensively and offensively, unlike Knights, kicks more goals than Knights, and his quality of disposal is much higher. They both burn the ball on occassion, but Knights does it far more often and has never been able to do the pinpoint 50 metre passes van Berlo can do.
van Berlo also, from my experience, works harder on the training track. He's also gone closer to having match winning performances (see our first game against Geelong).
I like Knights and believe that he's having a very good year himself for a 3rd year player, but to say he's having a better year than van Berlo suggests that you're looking at them from a dreamteamers perspective. He's certainly improved more than van Berlo over the last year, but he'd definately be dropped before him - he still has a LOT of work to do on his game.

Doesn't. I'm telling you because I'm the one who said what I said and I'm telling you that's not what I was saying.
It clearly does.

I'm TELLING YOU to stop acting like a 5 year old & posting this dribble, or I'll be forced to stop it for you.

Dont agree at all.

Maybe in terms of stats counts he is, but in terms of impact on a game, quality of disposal, and ability to play a role for the team, i prefer van Berlo at this stage.

I like them both! Let's not quibble over who of the two is best... they BOTH look like they could offer the team something for the years ahead. :thumbsu:

Chris Knights doesnt wash his hands after using the bathroom.

As long as I don't have to shake his hand or eat from the same bowl of nuts on the bar, all is still cool with the world. :D
