The other angle is the deep football community concern about the dangers of us 'over-celebrating'. Friday conversation in a pub went a bit sour when the guy (one of st Kilda's cool-drinkin' rock-n-roll supporters) found out I was a tiger. 'Are you gettin' carried away too' he said with the disapproving look of a maiden aunt who's worried that someone, somewhere might be having fun. Tried to tell me that the players over-celebrated as if having beaten Carlton for the first time in five years they should have acted like grant Thomas and Lenny Henry at a pre-season premiership.
For what it's worth I was on swan street and at the London after the game and I thought it was all fairly subdued.
Zipper it has been pointed out elsewhere how relatively quiet the players were after the siren and almost all supporters I spoke to talked down the win. The Thomas / Hayes reaction is a parody now, most people laughing at their comical and forced reaction accepting the pre season cup. Gee it worked didn't it. We don't need any w***ers telling us how to react. I think we've got leadership at the club who will keep our players in check, which is all that matters.
