I think ryan would be a huge flight risk and that alone would be enough to put interstate teams off.
Then you factor in a perceived lack of professionalism(i know he's improved) and i think an extremely late pick/rookie pick is most likely.
On talent top 20 but all the other stuff..

Oscar Allen would be a waste of our first pick. He is simply going to sit for two or three years. If your description of him is accurate, why would he be available at pick 13 anyway ? Because all the other teams will pick midfielders ? I don't think so. Now of course, you may be right about the Eagles taking Allen (Who knows?) but I still feel that he doesn't fill an immediate need, and an immediate need (contested midfielder) is what needs to be filled !Waterman's a third tall. Allen has the ability play a number of positions. You're not going to find a the contested mid you need at 13, unless they take the punt on constable which I think is unlikely. O'Brien and Higgins won't fill the need. Allen 191 and growing, huge wingspan and elite jump. Oscar Allen is the best available, you've got guys like Vennibles who are waiting to come into the midfield, Duggan, ah chee, reddan, shuey. Your midfield is in the state you think it is.
If constable is still available a second round eagles pick then there is your contested midfielder. midfielders are much easier to come across than players like Allen. You'd like fill that immediate need with some like Banfield or Schloith. All picks after 13 are assumed to be smaller types or sliders. Starcevich could be that contested ball winner, the kid is a freak. I just think it's stupid to react on immediate needs so you don't finish last when you're trying to make a premiership side for 3 years timeOscar Allen would be a waste of our first pick. So you want something 'BIGHubble, turned up to the max.
Not fixing immediate obvious problems is just as stupid. Having lost two of our most senior midfielders and with many fans saying for some time that the midfield is the Eagles greatest area of weakness. Not taking the best midfielder available and instead drafting a tall player when we have other players in his position that are just as good is a waste of our first round pickIf constable is still available a second round eagles pick then there is your contested midfielder. midfielders are much easier to come across than players like Allen. That is your opinion and I respect it, but I still maintain that Allen is a waste at pick 13. Why can't they find inside class at pick 13 ? All it takes is for one of the teams above them to do something unexpected and a "class" inside midfielder falls to them. Picking Allen doesn't solve any of the Eagles problems and there is no guarantee that he will ever become a midfielder and , according to most of the phantom drafts and draft ratings, there are plenty of inside midfielders who will be available at that pick. Waiting until later in the draft to improve a position that is frequently referred to as a weakness, while strengthening a position that is already well catered for, makes little sense. You're not going to be able to find inside class at 13. Allen is far from a waste at 13 could even play as a midfielder himself. It's not an obvious problem it's just under developed, Vennibles will be like a new Draftee. The inside midfielders eagles supporters are whining about not taking will be available at 26+

Just a hunch, but I think WC preferred and went with Brander, not expecting Allen to be available at their next pick. When he was still there at their second, he was just too good not to take. They seemed to panic pick with Ryan after seeing Starcevich and Kelly snaffled. Anyway, no disaster with what happened, but the rest of the universe sees them as lacking class in the midfield.Well "Beast" you were right the Eagles did go tall with pick 13, but it was Brander . I was surprised when they picked up Allen with their second pick, don't think that we need two tall forwards. Maybe the club thinks that one of them, or one of the tall forwards that we already have, can be turned into midfielders. I'm not so confident that that will happen.
