Warney's IPL team!
He is on the outer a Hawthorn, at best he may play a few games this year for match ups (as opposed to Willams). I rekon he is a gun and we go after him at seasons end. With Nieta retiring robbo on the wrong side of 30. Offer pick 17 (if were allowed to trade it) and a player.

Thoughts?

Yeah its a good thought and is the type of player we need. The other one worth looking at getting to the club is Brent Prismall from geelong. Killing it at VFL level would be playing in every other team in the comp. Had 44 possesions on the weekend. Just needs an oppurtunity. Would add a bit of leg speed to the midfield and is very polished player skills wise

Good idea, if we don't have any of players standing up as key forwards by the end of the year, it seems like a good option.

But i'd think that 17 & a player might be a bit much. He's 24 this year, played less then 30 games and kicked less then 40 goals. Great potential, but not exactly proven.

I think pick 17 would be more then enough seeing as he can't get a game anyway, or maybe just a straight player swap or player & 3rd round pick.

The one area, if there is one, that the hawks are a little lacking is tall defenders, how about boyle for chopper?:thumbsu:

We already have Newton and I see Boyle as a very similar player and Newton might have a few more tricks in his bag. I'd take Boyle but wouldn't offer a second round pick, might offer a 3rd but probably wouldn't considering our 3rd round pick will be close to a second rounder.

It's a big if, but if we can get Newton, Miller and Bate with Davey and Wonnaeamirri all showing something like the form they did on the weekend then we don't need to be giving away draft picks for blokes like Boyle.

That's a very big IF. And considering that Juice has dropped away this year compared to last year.

BTW how did he go on the weekend?

We will NOT give up any picks under 20, and how come you thinking we will get pick 17, 15 rounds to go if we play like we did yesterday (the second half anyway) we won't be getting pick 1, 17 or what ever last gets because we will not be last at seasons end!!!

You offer 17, and we'll be signing before you even finish the contract.

We chased a teen pick last year (from a 30-goal, 15 game season) and best offer was around 30. (Apparently).

This time round he'll be lucky to play more than 4-5 games.

A pity, as he'd be playing for probably 12 or so other clubs. (Us, Saints, Lions?, Geelong?)

Yeah pick 17 and a player mite be a bit much but hawthorn will play hardball if they do decide to trade. Atleast 3 years ago now Hawthorn wanted Ferguson for sewell straight swap and we said no. Maybe Pick 17 and Warnock for Boyle. Boyle imp is a good player and better one than Newton if we could get him with a second rounder that would be daylight robbery for us i cant see Hawthorn caving in like that.

Pretty sure it was Ferguson that said no, not us.

story goes ND sat him down and said he will NOT play him, he stayed anyway

Sewell would handy :(

I knew Ferguson said no. I didn't realise ND sat him down and told him to go. Wrong decision from Fergie, I imagine he would still be on an AFL list if he were at Hawthorn.

As for Boyle, I actually posted this on Demonland a couple of days ago. Not sure what I'd offer, but I'd like to see us try and pick him up.

i rate boyle, very decent kick on him too.
if he's 25 next year, he's still probably three years off his peak as a forward anyway.
17, may be a little bit too much though...

He is currently injured and is hardly on the outer at Hawthorn. He may be a Gun compared to Miller but that is not saying much. Hasn't done much really not sure about him?

I reckon Boyle would go alright in any other forward line then hawthorn. Franklin and Roughy have stamped their authority in the forward fifty with such dominance that i don't think Boyle had the time to find his place. He was always the last leading option for the midfield.

In the first half of 2007, Tim Boyle was the most accurate kick in the AFL, I personally believe that giving him the option to play in an underpowered forward line (no disrespect - Rusty is a gun) would give him the chance to rise up and cement his own name as class forward in its own right.

He can take high flying marks and his precision on goal can be devastating, what boyle needs is opportunity.

I think Boyle is destined for greater things, it seems a shame to see his possibilities limited at hawthorn fc.

Boyle for Rivers?

We would probably have to include a pick in there but im not sure what your backline stocks are like to cover Rivers going.

Would be very nice to have another big body back there :)

Boyle for Carroll is a more reasonable trade. We lose JR and our whole backline turns to shit.

Boyle for Carroll and a swich of our third round picks, meaning you guys would most likely get pick 35 instead of 50 odd.

I will assume you're kidding.

Or if not, how about Miller for Roughead instead? I rate the trades about the same.
