It was a tap similar to what Burns did a few weeks ago to create a goal.

I saw it the same as you did Kane - a definite scoop upwards with an open hand, and that of course is a throw.

Shows how hard it is for an umpire though when supporters of the same team that got the free are divided in their opinion.

I never subject myself to the crap commentary on the TV. I always put it on 5AA (except if Russell Ebert does Crows games he gives me the ****s! then it is MMM) The commentary is biased on the radio also, but at least it is in our favour and they actually know our players names! If I hear Andy Goodwin again I am gonna slap someone! If I hear Eddie or Dermie make a stupid comment then giggle on Friday night I am gonna flip!!!!

Oh to have the choice of radio stations that you people living in real football states have.

I almost exclusively listen to TV commentary now for a few reasons:

* Often the game won't be covered on radio here, particularly an afternoon match in Perth
* If I'm watching the game on cable there's a few seconds delay; i.e. the radio commentators become nostradamuses - calling what happens before I see it - which isn't at all enjoyable
* Or sometimes I'll be taping another match on at the same time and not want the radio to give away the scores

We also had 5AA on within the first 5 minutes of the game. I guess I should watch the replay to see how bad the three Fox guys really were.

But it surely isn't as bad as Gerard Healy, who is so pro-Victorian, he wants every non-Victorian player who tackles a victorian player reported and given a life-ban. I even remember Eddie telling him to shut up during the Crows v Carlton commentary.

Then there's channel 10, who have hand-picked the nations worst commentators, which include
Tim Lane - ABC wash-up
Anthony Hudson - does he work for the Victorian tourism commission?
and......the worst commentator EVER - Robert Walls.

That used to be the case with 5AA at the beginning of the year but they actually sycronized it with TV coverage now so you get it spot on.

Marksgirl, I cannot agree with you more when it comes to Russell Eberts special comments. McDermott is pretty bad as well. There is no question both of them know what they are talking about but fair dinkum do they p&%105;ss me off.

I don't mind Kerls, McCartney is OK and Busasstow was great on the weekend. Earlier in the year Garry Lyon was also sensational.

Don't forget those pearls of wisdom from Michael Christian and Stephen Silvagni!!! Craig Bradley was pretty poor the other week aswell. At least channel nine has had James Brayshaw and Kym Dillon - when they are on it is fantastic.

Cometti and Grybas are my two favourite commentators. Everyone else seems to have some form of bias that they bring to the commentary... Brereton was alright in that regard, but some comments of his definitely bordered on moronic...

The difference with KG is, most of the time he only gets broadcasted to majority pro-Adelaide listeners.

Keeping in mind this thread is from over a year ago, Gossage in the game being discussed - Adelaide vs West Coast from Subi, Round 19, 2003- was going to a nationwide TV audience and was biased to the point of it being sickening towards West Coast.
