Tim Lane has quit ABC radio to join channel 10's football coverage.

Summers of cricket without Tim Lane on radio will never be the same again.

I know there are a lot of Tim Lane fans out there, but personally I can't think of one commentator who is irreplacable.

Jim Maxwell is the best commentator on ABC radio's cricket coverage followed by Roger Wills and Glenn Mitchell. Tim Lane was good as well but I think he is a better football commentator.

Agree with that ScouseCat,but lets hope the ABC don't let David Morrow [ABC Sydney] commentate too much.If he does,I'm tuning out.

That's going to provide a huge improvement to the standard of Channel 10's footy coverage.

Still, gonna miss Timmy all summer....

Harsha Bhogle is a great commentator, I agree with you Hoggy... one of the best overseas commentators going around. He's certainly better then the other Indian commentator on the tv coverage, Navjot Sidhu.

Morrow's a rugby league commentator; his habit of shouting all the time may be OK for the NRL but just doesn't suit cricket at all.

Just imagine if he and Kerry O'Keefe were in the commentry box at the same time... you'd have David Morrow yelling and Kerry telling his stories and then laughing!!
