Maric has been good but seems to be running out of steam, Clarke is still a bit sore and underdone, Hudson not ready yet. We're playing a bottom 8 side that we should beat.

Let's see what he's made of, give him incentive to stay on next year and maybe improve our ruck stocks and clearances. It's time.

With out watching the replay yet Ivan's centre square work was hampered by some shocking bounces

At the very least it will give him valuable exposure to help us at trade time if he leaves (or we need him for Gibbs) and at best we uncover a talent we can take into the finals

No doubt he's a talent!

Craig will not expose him to AFL simply to raise his trade value - that's nonsense

And there's not a snowflakes chance in hell he'll play in the finals

OK let's do another Fergus, p1ss him off so he leaves, get less for him than we paid for then whinge about it.

Does he even want to be here, if not lets get rid of him and move on. I'm guessing that in 3 years time both he and Fergus Watts will be playing VFL if not country VIC footy.

Iam as upset as anyone at simply the dicussion re him possibly leaving ....but there is no way Craig would ever entertain playing him simply to stop him going home.

Whinge ...I certainly will if we lose him....but you have to have more faith in our club programs and Craigs ability to convince him of his future at Crowland.

Cart b4 horse .....it's only speculation on here ...he hasn't said anything and bTW he is one of the best bigman prospects the AFC have had since Rehn

This is a stupid comment. Watching Meesen play last week, he is playing good football & enjoying himself. Since when has he said he wants to return home - pure speculation! He is also far from a dud & IMO is the best ruckman on our list since Rehn.

Great minds. ;)

The ruck has been the one area I think the AFC coaching staff has stuffed up and it could be the one thing that costs us the flag.

I have said for a while that we won't win a premiership with Clarke and Biglands as our ruck duo. Maric should have been given some games last season and with Hudson out this season should have had the No. 1 position with Meeson given the No. 2. They would have gone into this year's finals series with 20-25 games under their belts. We've seen with Van Berlo what happens when you invest some games in a young player before they are technically 'ready' to have an impact.

Instead we backed ourselves into a corner by playing Clarke and Biglands as our first choice ruck duo at the end of last season and early this season. Now we've got a choice between two dud ruckman and two who are too inexperienced to have an impact.

If you have actually watched a Crows match Biglands is far from a dud. He's probably in career best form is more than servicable. I agree with Clarke, has lost his touch a bit and not winning as many taps to advantage as he used to.

Meeson's form didn't warrant him a game. He wasn't even doing that well at SANFL level so why give him an AFL game?

Just can't agree with any of the above. You just don't play players that are miles from being AFL ready and destroy their confidence into little shreds when they can't get a sniff of the ball.

Ruckmen take a good 2 to 3 years more than a mid-fielder to develop at AFL level - we're not talking the Amataeur League here.

Our best hope of winning this year's flag is with Clarke and Biglands - Maric and Meesen are the future, not the present.

Best big man since Rehn??, What has he done 7 kicks here a few tap outs, seems IMHO lazy and a lot to go before he even gets a look in at AFL level. I'd rather give Clarke an extra year.

I'm not saying play Meesen in the finals, but give him a taster. This kid is something special - knows hos to position himself in the rights spots like Rehn - you cannot teach that instict ... & going by your posts, you either haven't seen much of him, or don't have a great idea about ruckmen.

Like Macca23, our best options for the finals are Biglands & Clarke - but no harm leaving Clarke at Glenelg for a couple of weeks to fire up.

I agree the people pushing him have gone overboard...Drummond I am looking at you :p ... but on the other hand I would not give Clarke another year

I guess my strategy would be to sit Meesen down and let him know Clarke is going and if he continues to work hard at Norwood he will be given some preseason games...and then like Maric will be given first choice when there are injuries to Hudson/Biglands/Maric..hell Huddo could break down or even Biglands.

Maybe don't knwo much about ruckmen, but still wouldn't mention Rehn & Meesen in the same breath, 2 years on a list and hasn't bothered the selectors yet. Hope your'e right and I'm wrong.

Ruckmen do take longer to develop which is why it was vital to get them started early. Surely the time to blood a young ruckman is when they are surrounded by one of the best midfields in AFL history? Having Ricciuto, Edwards and Goodwin at your feet can make you look pretty good.

We will be in severe trouble with Clarke and Biglands up against White and Cox in the finals. Smart coaches will recognise it as our Achilles heal and will look to exploit this advantage.

I think we've made a huge mistake. If we don't win a flag in the next two years Maric and Messen might get their opportunity but it will be too late for Ricciuto, Goodwin, McLeod, Edwards and Bassett. They might still be playing but surely our premiership window will have closed.

Spoke to a mate last night who knows a bit about the goings on around Norwood.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings ... but apparently the word around the traps is that Meesen wants out. Perhaps a taste of the big time might change his mind, but things don't sound hopeful.
