There's no doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson has been the most successful football manager worldwide in the last 20 years. Turned a club that was struggling into one of the most successful clubs worldwide in the space of 10 years.

However, he has lost the confidence of one of his star players again for the second time - and Man U have been on the decline since they blitzed the EPL in season 07/08. Then there's the relationship with the Glazers who seem reluctant to sanction big transfers (the last one was Berbatov and he hardly set the world on fire until this season). Does anyone think he has the patience to rebuild a team yet again and wait another 4-5 years for a trophy (ala 2003-2007)?

I reckon that Man U need a new manager - what does everyone else think?

I think you should stop trolling Man Utd.

Give it a rest.

You're persistant, I'll give you that.

Losing Mr Ferguson is the single worst thing they could do. I think he will be there for another 3-4 seasons.

I'm not a wapist.

I swear to god, I read the OP and thought "first post will be by TIG saying 'replace him with woy'".

Bloody beat him to it. :p

I thought about that in my post, but I don't like this poster, so I thought I'd tell him to stop trolling Man Utd, only I'm allowed to do that.

Alex Ferguson is a prime example of what managers should be like.

NO player AT ALL is bigger than the club they play for - and Ferguson makes sure that everybody knows that.

Everyone that's at Man Utd has the right attitude, and it's why they're so successful.

I agree, they should keep him though he does need to revamp the team a bit too many old players playing too much of an important role they can drop off quickly he needs a fair few fresh faces at the club IMO.

Didnt he chase Stam out too?

I actually thought Fergie was brilliant yesterday. Maybe I am naieve, but it seemed from the heart to me. Only when he is gone will Utd fans really appreciate him. Actually thats probably not true.

The last time Sir Alex walks out at Old Trafford will be one of the most emotional moments in football history. I will probably even shed a tear

I'm the first to admit that I have an intense dislike of SAF but when the day does come (and I believe that it isn't too far away) that he leaves Old Trafford even I will applaud what he has done over the last 25 years or so. He'll be remembered in the same light as Shankly.

Definitely not true I already appreciate him greatly, growing up in the 80's coping shit from all my mates who jumped on the Liverpool bandwagon, I very much appreciate what Fergie has done for this club.

Ridiculous thread, every single one of United's woes is due to the ownership and debt of the Glazer family.

A year ago Sir Alex was lauded for rebuilding United, and winning, yet again, like he had done so many times before.

Sir Alex's attitude to the Glazer ownership will always tarnish his sterling history though, and this is why he will not be held in the same light as Sir Matt. You couldn't imagine Busby publically accepting a bunch of debt and the people who brought it.
