Get that BLOODY straight! Whether or not he spilled some beans he shouldn't have a few years back people need to remember he bled f@#king blue like few others for over 300 games. Never forget the day i witnessed him smother the ball 3 times in a quarter WITH HIS FACE - ABSOLUTE COMMITMENT AND COURAGE!! SHOW SOME F@#KING RESPECT PEOPLE!!

I'm with you. I'm embarrassed by some of the replies in this thread

BD, people are crapped off at the experiences of the past half dozen years. Guess the love is a little less for those who didn't seem to stick tough. Am I wrong somewhere?

With the majority here, I absolutely adored SOS when he was playing for us but he has burned a fair few bridges when he left Carlton.

Been nowhere near Carlton lately. I've seen the whole Silvagni family down at training even (Jo and the kids) with SOS nowhere near in site.

Don't need him, don't want him. He can stay right where he is.

He comes to every Carlton game with the boys I see him every TD game, the boys in their Carlton jumpers.

SOS was a great player and IS a good coach but he has very poor communication skills. He just can't get his message out in understandable manner. I still think Jammo and Bower would gain with him helping. If he is fee get him. Anyone to do with 1995 is gold

Mind you he had one golden moment at 3/4 time in the 99 PF. :thumbsu:

I understand how some are still angered over some of his actions over the past few years, i get that, but there seems to be little respect for one of our clubs greatest ever players.

Where does this stuff come from. SOS and Braddles went to Collo and told them about promised under the table payments and Collo urged them to go to the AFL and come clean. How does that constitute SOS lagging us in? Collo wanted a fresh start and hoped the AFL would go easy on us if we cooperated since we were already done like a dinner anyway.

He does work with ST KILDA as a defensive coach maybe his doing training there ??

SOS is a true carlton legend ! always has been and always will be, im also preety sure he will be welcomed back to carlton with open arms . he only played 300 odd games for us.

A lazy 200 goals as well. Not bad for the full-back of Infinity. Skills and effort never in question. :thumbsu:

Thanks for reminding me on that , i remember a doggies game a few years back now it was at pp we won by 3 or 4 points but silvagni stopped johnson, i think it was at the time, scoring , won us the game. How he got to johnson and put him of balance from where he was is beyond me.

DNA tests suggest his father Serge consumed way too much Wrigley's Spearmint Stick Gum.

He is rated highly by Roos and only quit the media to take up a full time assistant position because he believed this would help his case for Senior coach at Carlton post Pagan.

That is SOS's explanation and not mine, but I wouldnt worry about his communication skills that you are probably judging from his media performances. If Paul Roos kept inviting him back every time Roberts-Thompson lost form you would have to think he rated him highly as a mentor/defensive coach.

That being said it is hard to fault the recent development of Bower,Jammo and Waite so somebody must be doing something right with the backs

As has been pointed out......Bradley also "told" as was their instruction.....yet when he was invited back I recall it was "The return of a legend" and a great move?

Sure, thinggs didn't end the way we would have liked, but I can't see SOS being blamed for what happened to the extent that he wouldn't be welcomed back.

Having said that with the Saints in a prelim and likely to be recuiting some young defenders soon, I can't see SOS wanting to go anywhere either.

Maybe Dick needs to make him an offer.;)

Um, where was he when the shit was burying the fan the last little bit? Fcuk him.

I for one do not want him back at Carlton.:thumbsd: He left us when we needed him the most. He came onto the Collins board to get rid of Elliott and then when the heat got too much left us. He is the type of person who would only come back when things are good so stuff him.

I prefer someone with true loyalty like Sticks Kernahan. Now there is someone who loves the club unconditionally and has stuck through good times and bad times.

SOS can stay where he is. Not interested at all in him.

**** him when we needed someone he ****ing left us in the lurch, turned his back on us. He can **** off, I am happy with our current coaching staff.

Seems I like your quotes Thy!

SOS is a Carlton Great. So many games and memories from this bloke. I loved watching him play. His family are still involved in the Club. Jo is one of the Ambassadors for Women of Carlton and I am sure down the track young Jack Silvagni will play for us.

I'm not mad at him for telling the board about the payments but for actually leaving us when we were on our f'ing knees!:(

It may also be those filthy Saints colors he wears that I cannot get over. It broke my heart when Hamill left us to go there and now SOS wears them as well. Yuk!!:thumbsd:

Yes he was a legend on the playing field. Still remember the 95 finals series where he kept the best full forwards of the era to something like 2 or 3 goals during that campaign.

1 goal.

Darryl White - 0 goals
Wayne Carey - 1 goal
Gary Ablett Sr - 0 goals

After watching the depleted Saints demolish the apparently resurgent reigning premiers and seeing SOS pouring over stats and figures in the Saints coaches meeting, I can't shake the idea that he would add so much to our talented developing group.

Make it happen Swanny!

I like you're thinking Yoss - but I imagine the club would be way ahead of us in trying to sound out SOS for a defensive role, given our young stock and his track record leading the Saints defence this year.

I saw his kids at the footy during the North Melbourne game (his son Jack has Fevs number on his back) - so obviously the love is still there through all the animosity.

Perhaps the wheels are already in motion to lure him back?

Perhaps that is the REAL reason we told John Elliot to stay away from the club?

Perhaps this ties in with the Elliot claim of women being paid hush money for rape - as it gave us grounds to send him away?

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this?

hmmm .... *thinking pose*

With the job he's done at St.Kilda and with our core group of young defenders, SOS could be just what we need to seriously bolster our backline into one of the best in the comp in the upcoming years. Would love to have him back at our club working with our defenders.

It's definately an interesting talking point. The advice and coaching he could give to our young developing backline would be invaluable but the theory still remains - are there too many ex-carlton players in coaching and development roles?

I'm sure Ratts & Co. would be in his ear about how to dismantle the saints during the finals series :D
