I'm sick of this f*cking crap week in week out. It's clear he's not the guy that's going to take us the next step. Things need to change, a new coach, a new outlook, new ideas. He all but promised a flag in 4-5 years after he signed as coach in 2000 and we're still f*cking waiting! 2006 is already another year :D:D:D:Ded away by this damn football club. Bring in King, Harley, and whoever else you want and it changes nothing. There's a friggin disease running through this club and Bomber Thompson doesn't have the cure for it.

I'm still not sure whether this is his ultimate plan. Imagine if we played hard running football all year, we would be ****ed, injuries would be high and we would mostly fall over at the end.

To me he has played these 4 games as rest games, we haven't run at all, tackled hard once (against the bullies). He would have wanted a minimum 2 wins out of them (we could have easily got them against the bullies and demons).

You don't play 4 weeks of sh1t footy without realising it's the gameplan.

Next week Geelong to come out and smash St.Kilda by 70+ points using the old game plan.

All is not lost yet, i don't think bomber is that stupid to employ a short chippy ring a rosy brand of football at Geelong......

Well if thats true thats pathetic. Rest games are crap. Rest one or two playersa week for a game towards the end of the year if its really needed, we apparently have great depth. Lets win enough games first before we talk finals, ATM i dont think we'll make them, and normally I'm pretty postive but the last two weeks have &$%#&*@(#(

We're not that bloody good that we can play four 'rest' games and have anything good come of it. If they're not fair dinkum every week then they shouldn't turn up. Play the running brand of football and MANAGE it so that not everyone is dead at the end of the season. If we don't play the game plan that suits us, we wont win games, and if we don't win games then it means we don't make finals - rendering these 'rest' games pointless.

Thats the only way i can explain Bomber Thompson and the cats playing :D:D:D:D footy for 4 weeks on the trot without realising.

Maybe he wants us to finish off better, get some confidence into the boys before the finals.

Sorry for having a little more trust in Bomber and trying to atleast tap into whats going on up there.

Remember we were 1-4 in 2004, whats so different now?

Plenty of time left.

Pull your head in

Disappointing - yes, lacking confidence - yes, can they still play - yes, are they still capable of what they have done for the past 2 and a bit years - yes they are. I would rather us be a little flat now than in Sept. We are not out of it yet.

We are all disappointed in many aspects of the game they have played over the past four weeks but do seriously think what you are proposing will fix that??

and i wouldnt bother using the "1-4 in 2004" line for comfort guys...

no one rated us then, no one respected us...actually come to think of it i doubt many people will rate us after tonight now anyway.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

They have not been rest games - if you think Bomber didn't want to win every one of those games then you are crazy

Is that the confidence to drink as many VB's as they can while sitting on the couch during the finals

No we are not, but we don't need to win every game of the season to make the finals.

You can have all your stupid cliches "one game at a time" however if we had played the way we played in the first 2 rounds this season, for the whole season i think it would have been impossible to "manage" the team so that they aren't all dead.

I would much rather Geelong still be alive in September than dead.

If this is not what Bomber was thinking along the lines of, then how else do you explain these 4 weeks of utter rubbish?

Remember we could have been 4-2 if a couple of things had gone our way in these "rest games".... And i'm not calling them rest games because we didn't care about winning, i'm calling them rest games because we didn't care about running.

I still believe........

You are a disgrace Renegade. This sort of talk helps no one. The Cook-Costa reign would never sack a coach - they back Bomber to the hilt. The history of sacking coaches never pays short term results. Even Richmond didnt sack Frawley - and thats saying something.

I'm gutted from where we were 4 weeks ago but you gotta keep believing. The players have got to lift across the board.

All of them.....

All of them.....

well said. the coach and board are fine for the time being. the players on the other hand are not fine. some of them, too many of them, need to lift.

its not thompson's fault...its the players...he has given them everything he possibly can and this is how they repay him.

i wouldnt be surprised if the guy quit before he got sacked!

Give us something Kent, for :D:D:D:Ds sake.

Kent, Charlie, Big H. Bloody usless bastards. Good for nothing... Jnr and Chappy carry our forward line yet again.

Do not be fooled of it being the players alone, very ordinary coaching performance over the past 4 weeks. Not one of the underdone players rushed back have done anything...

OK morons. You guys are the disgrace if you think sitting back and 'letting it unfold' is the key. Changes need to be made beyond the playing group. We'll never see a flag if this coaching staff remains.
I'll be bringing this thread up again every week with I TOLD YOU SO! And you dimwits can keep pumping out the garbage talk about how everything will be alright.

It's a pretty poor rest considering we are #1 in the league for contested possesions, #16 for everything bloody else mind you, but we have been made to earn our footy in close and there's not much "rest" involved in that. I originally thought YOTC was taking the :D:D:D:D with that post

The only way we can score a goal is through some magic from Chapman and Ablett. The opposition then cut through the defence and kick a soft reply in 20 seconds.

I'm ****ing over it.

I don't buy it. The GFC and faith do not mix, and never will. We want to see RESULTS, and we have not been the beneficiary of them over the last four weeks.

I don't know what bomber is thinking, but if he is trying to rest the players up for a crack at September then he's nuts, because we wont make it playing like rubbish. I believe more that the players' hearts aren't in it, and their confidence is shot - that's much more plausible than some stupid coaching maneuvre.

That is it exactly - the players, and quite a lot of them have to lift. Our once very even performing side has just got a number of passengers atm plus we have a number of players coming back in after injury and a lot of very youg players. It means the last four weeks have been played on the backs of a few - Ablett, Mooney, Bartel, Rooke (spectacular again tonight - he is tough) et al

But look at the improvement in Otto, Wojer, Egan, and don't forget we are still missing King and Harley and have Dog to come back as well..

What all that means is we have a number of players who have to lift - a lot, and a few players who just need game time.

We are not in the best position, but is not all over and it is not time to be talking about sacking coaches.

They were going to bring the injured key position players along slowly.
King? Harley? still not there?
Riccardi? another hammy??
The Octopus? Lets hope he stays on the park long enough to find form?
Johnson back from injury out again
Lets hope Ottens stays out there.

My point is what are the odds of getting them together at the one time?
Do we keep crossing our fingures that they will?

I doubt it??

It probably won't but that's the same for every club - you are very very lucky if you can get thru the year with your best 22 on the park
