I'm gonna have a stab at this..let's see what everyone thinks.

Latham - Leader
Gillard - Deputy Leader and Health
Rudd - Treasurer
Tanner - Workplace Relations and Small Business
McClelland - Attorney General
Roxon - Finance
G. O'Connor - Agriculture and Forestry
Carr - Education, Employment and Training
Beazley - Defence
M. Ferguson - Transport
Crean - Foreign Affairs
Macklin - Trade
Lundy - Communications, Arts, Sport and Territories

How am I going so far?

Not a bad guess. I'd leave Rudd in Foreign Affairs though as he performs well against Downer. Crean would get slaughtered. Stephen Smith's name has popped up a bit for the Shadow Treasurer job.

Agree with Julia Gillard as Deputy Leader. Surely Macklin's time is up.

I'd leave Rudd in Foreign Affairs. He absolutely tore Downer a new **************** in a debate a couple of weeks ago, shame there wasn't more of that going on from the Leader.

How could you forget that fireball Craig Emerson?

I'd get rid of all Fergusons, Emerson, Macklin and put Crean in a portfolio which no-one will have to listen to him. Ditto McMullan.

My cat is sharper than Kate Lundy, and he's a bit thick. Communications or Education would be such a wonderful choice for the stupid woman.

It doesn't matter who goes up, anyone will get slaughtered against Peter Costello. It's happened to Latham and Crean twice. Of the people on Pazza's front bench, quite honestly, I don't think there is anyone who is better than their Coalition counterpart intellectually or politically.

Dead wood to be cut away:

Mark Bishop
Kim Carr
Annette Ellis
Martin Ferguson
Jenny Macklin
Bob McMullan
Kerry O'Brien
Kelvin Thomson

ANYBODY on the shadow bench is better intellectually or politically than Ruddock!!

Looks like a list full of failed union hacks and Ambulance Chasing lawyers

Not bad Pazza, but I would make the following adjustments...

Simon Crean - Leader
Kerry O’Brien - Deputy Leader
Peter Garrett – Treasurer
Beazley – Arts
Lafum - Interest Rates

Yeah, that's probably a fair point, but, I guess what I was trying to do is seeing what talent was around and putting them in the best possible places in trying circumstances for those involved.

Meh, I'll play.

Leader of the Opposition - Mark Latham
Shadow Treasurer - Wayne Swan(Surely he's done his time in purgatory long enough)
Health - Juila Gilliard
Defence - Kim Beazley
Foreign Affairs and Deputy Leader - Kevin Rudd
Aboriginal Affairs/environment - Peter Garrett
Workplace Relations and Small Business - Lindsay Tanner

Rudd > Downer
Gillard > Abbott
Beazley > Hill

to name three.

P.S. Latham > Howard
The voters didn't think so mate.

Incidentally, I thought Lindsay Tanner sounded reasonably intelligent on Lateline last night, arguing that Labor needs to stay with the economoc liberalisation agenda.
