Seriously, what a joke this guy is. I’m sick of seeing him play on TV, I’m sick of the commentators talking him up and saying he’s the future of our Davis Cup team. I know he’s still young but I think it’s best if he walked away from the game while he’s still somewhat respected.

He lost his first round match to Donald Young who, while extremely talented, had only won a single match on the professional tour prior to yesterday. And yet Guccione went down in 4 sets. Onya Gooch! :thumbsu: You have the worst defensive game I've ever seen, you don’t believe in rallies, you don’t work your way into points, and you seem to not even care out there. You are the epitome of a dud.

Alun Jones is a gun...very well played against rafa but choked on big points.

He played well the other day but I really think he struggles at the top level. He has been around the circut a while and at 27 I can't see him really improving much to break into the top 100 and staying there for any real period of time. I could be wrong though.

Hehe, the famous Drummond burrrrrrn :D

I guess everyone just has to accept he's not going to be the big thing we were hoping for, and destined to be an average player.

Hopefully he can prove me wrong though :thumbsu:

I just don't understand, he should do alright at Wimbledon, yet disapoints every year. What can you say, he is ranked around 75, but never does anything at grand slams. Seems to do well at 1 tournament in Australia each year and that is about it. He is still relatively young though, 23?? So you never no, we can only hope he improves. While he will never be a top 30 player, hopefully he keeps plugging away.

Seriously, Australian tennis need's someone to break through, either on the mens or womens side. We just have no hope at the moment, apart from Tomic, but you never know with juniors, it doesn't always translate to successful pro.

He hangs out for the Sydney International each year, so he can have his time in the limelight. I don't understand. He has beaten Hewitt and Ferrero there before, but cant translate it elsewhere.

Gooch next career move should be to build a time-machine. Then go back in time, get his first tennis coach to violate him so that he never contemplates playing again.

Would have saved me money from the TAB that is for sure.

And  for not bumping this thread when he lost to Taik-Lee in the Aussie Open...

Has an outstanding serve - the rest of his game is atrocious. Some of the worst mobility I have seen at any level of tennis...... a 150kg-60-year-old-man can get to more balls than the Gooch
