Last year's a spur: Gibbs

Bryce Gibbs says the Blues are looking for September redemption

CARLTON’S Bryce Gibbs will use last year's heartbreaking elimination final loss to the Brisbane Lions as added motivation next week when the Blues enter the finals.

Carlton went down to Fremantle by just six points on Friday night at Subiaco Oval and will now finish in eighth spot and have to either travel back to Perth to play Fremantle again or to Sydney to face the Swans next week in a do-or-die final.

Gibbs was impressed with the way the Blues held on despite losing Andrew Carrazzo early, and having few disposals and entries inside-50. Much of that was due to laying 90 tackles and he feels the strong finish will give them confidence heading into next week.

Would you rather we played the Hawks ..

I don't think so !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the winner of that to play loser of Cats Saints.....nah we are on the right side of the draw now. Best outcome. Even with a win we could not play Syd in Melb so this is the best outcome, probably the most fortunate loss of the year. Rather play Swans then Dogs and if we keep winning the prospect of playing the Pies in a GF oh could it get any sweeter?:thumbsu:

My thoughts exactly 30yr :thumbsu:

I was disappointed about the loss on Friday night but when the Hawks beat the Pies on Sat afternoon, I was so happy.

There was no doubt that the Swans would beat the Lions

Definitely on the right side of the draw.

How sweet would it be to beat the Pies by 1 point :p

We wont be achieving redemption this year. We'll be out this Sunday. Maybe next year if some of our undersized defenders can put on some muscle and strength!!!!!!

You negative attitude is really concerning. There is a difference between giving up and having a F*** crack. I think that we have inserted this message 4-5 weeks ago, the boys have shown to improve, but needs consistency.

i think the swans over achieved a bit in the regular season. Take a look at their draw and the teams they played and beat twice... we have a reasonable chance to knock them off this week.

Only way we can beat Sydney is to lead by something like 5 goals at haltime. Why bc Sydney will grind you down, and our players are not strong enough to compete for the WHOLE four quarters. Judd has to have a blinder and Betts kick some goals. Centre square will determine match .A bit of luck with umpiring and kicking. Look at how Collingwood execute against the Swans , they have beaten them something like, the last 8 times. Quick movement of ball, use the spaces and wings. If we get clogged up we are gone.YOU win against Sydney with great tactics and execution. But have we the players and or coach do to it!!

Absolutely Kahooters chance of beating Sydney ... Goodes always seems to feel inspired whenever he plays against us , now you got the new kid on the block Kieran Jack whose in sublime form ...mumford coming back really adds another dimension to Sydney when he plays ..their a good tight unit at home and we are gonna be hard pressed for goals ...they are gonna try their best to shut our players down and the question is do we have a match winning player cos its gonna have to take one to beat em !

didnt say we had one or not ..meant it on the day that a match winner has to spring up

but also in saying that ..judd hasnt really been setting the world on fire of late but he'll have too come sunday because i cant really see anyone else taking the charge

Or Waite - 4 goal half against the top of the ladder Saints
Or Murphy - 5 goal, ~35 disposal game aganst North in a 10 point win last year.
Or Gibbs - Absolute shut-down of Adam Goodes who went on to kick 7 goals the next week.

I would argue that Murphy is also becoming a match winning player. He hasn't got much recognition of late but he has taken another step up imo.

Don't underestimate the Swans. We may be playing for redemption but they are playing for just as much or even more for Roos and Kirk's last season which you would expect their senior players to lift big time.

I think his last two games have been on a par with his 2009 form, which saw him just miss out on AA selection.

You think writing we are a Kahooters chance (did I spell that right?) is intelligent....Bwa Ha Ha Ha.....yep I make a lot of sense. A 2 horse race mind you. So I think we are half a kahooters chance...... I think I make plenty good sense.
