Continued on from the other thread.

Now, play the ball not the man. Don't want personal posts.

Keep to the topic.

And play nice.

Summation: some guy from Adelaide called Kurt Tippett has nominated Sydney as his club of choice. Discuss it here.

What Sydney supporters are offering.

Just so the thread is started off on the right note, some words from Mr. Ireland about the allowance.

Ireland defended the cost-of-living allowance and said the Swans had also been financially prudent, having lost several senior players to retirement in recent years and front-ended other contracts when possible.

''People are naive to think that allowance is sitting there and available to go and secure players. Every manager knows we get an allowance,'' he said.

''Every time we negotiate a contract, the comment is: 'If this player was playing in Melbourne or Adelaide or somewhere else, this is what his market rate is. You have to do that, plus pay 10 per cent.'

''That's for every player on our book. We don't have to pay it for rookies, but we still do.''

Now that it is clear that we can't use it to poach a couple of stars, the discussion can focus on Tippett.

Good idea with the title tag. :thumbsu:

nice spin, but when was the last time a premiership side could add another player to their list for 800k +

When was the last time a premiership team had two of their highest paid players leave the club and had to front end a shit load of contracts to make up the payments for the next year? When was the last time a premiership team was still paying off a contract like Bradshaw's worth a few hundred thousand dollars in their premiership year?

Okay, so rather than discuss salary cap and concessions (though it will devolve, I stake my house on it) Why don't we discuss Salary for Kurt?

I've heard 3 things:
1. 3 yr/ 2.5 million
2. 4 yr/ 4 million
3. Kurts Manager thinks Sydney should only have to give up pick 42

3rd point will be claimed as being fairyland, I'm sure of it.

I draw boobs on my ballot because it is irrelevant who I vote for, the seat is safer than fort knox.

I grew up in the seat of Kooyong. It was vile.

I've got a question. How do Sydney supporters feel about going for Tippett? Is anyone worried that he might be a risk given his run of recent concussions etc?

Grundy + 22?

Are you one of those ones who suggested Reid AND Rohan for Tippett?

No, I wasn't. I'm referring to the influx of Sydney flogs on our board trying to offer us Jesse White, Trent Dennis Lane and a random assortment of spud players.

Still, I don't want Sydney's whipping boy in Grundy + 22 either.

So a player who was not part of their premiership win will be their highest paid player.
Interested to see how this unfolds.

Kooyong huh? Do you need therapy now? :p Isn't that Peacock territory?

It was indeed. Before he was Menzies himself.

The Age is reporting 4/4. Or I thought they were!

I was musing on the HAwthorn board how the Swannies development people/coaches could, given their recent history, develop a packet of fishfingers into a good AFL player. And that could be truly frightening with someone like Tippett. I reckon you'll lock him down to a long-term deal.
