If we believe ÄFGM's theory, that the deal was done a year ago, that would mean Kurt, Blucher and Gold Coast have been very naughty and therefore they'd want to do everything possible to try and avoid looking obvious, so no one comes sniffing from AFL HQ. Putting out / encouraging innuendo about other clubs interest would be a good smokescreen. Its about the only smokescreen available to them.

I reckon Mick Malthouse has his suspicions along these lines, thats why he kept harping back to not understanding tippett's logic in leaving when he was on 5AA this arvo.

The absolute best deal I can think of would be Grundy + Parker for Tippett.

Well, I dont know either, at a guess, tippett wants to go to gold coast, they know it, he promises not to renew contract, all gc really have to do is offer us a ball park figure (which mid to late first round is, though its at the shit end of the ball park) and we either accept it or get bent over......

Only GWS could pick him up in the draft ahead of GC, though would we really give up a top five player for nothing???? Would GWS even want him after this episode, cos you know what he'd want to do once that contract is up dont you?

He said the other day that Tippett would make the announcement face too face.

Do you think Sydney or Carlton would be bothering if there was a pre-existing contract .....hell in the AFL industry there aren't too many secrets.
If a contract existed i'm sure GC would have somehow let it leak ....and there's noway other clubs would currently be involved

Parker is and will be a very good player ....but he's an inside mid and with Crouch coming in next year we just don't need another inside mid .....it's outside speed we need
