sorry in advance if this has already been discussed, but i'm not about to go through 700 posts to check.

we simply cannot trade Tippett to Sydney if we dont at least break even on the deal. Under no circumstances can we improve one of our known realistic competitors for next years flag without improving ourselves.

If Tippett declares the Swans as his destination, they must pay appropriately, and it needs to address an area of weakness for us immediately (unless the club is dismissing next year and looking longer term which i doubt)

if they cant/wont, then it's the draft for Kurt.
We have to come out in front if they want him that badly. They hold no bargaining power at all. Basically he's going to GC.

Those clean moments/plays from brodie throughout the year are much to look forward to, once he builds greater consistency - it looked he was towards the end of the h&A + finals.

Most quotable film i've ever seen - "Pool's are Perfect for Holding water" :thumbsu:

cool beans. WHiskey.

Feel sorry for AFC... So much time and $$ invested in this guy and what does he do ? "Sorry, Im leaving...." ... I dont want him at the Bloods, he wouldn't fit into our culture...It seems all Kurt thinks about is himself...

The fact that absolutely none of these quotes (apart from his gutless text message to his life long friends) come from Kurt speaks volumes. Has not come out once and thanked the club for developing him in to the player he is now, paying him way more than he's worth for the last three years, nor said anything to the supporters he's disappointed. w***er.

I know you're angry, but this is just plain ludicrous and/or delusional.
It's not as ludicrous as you're saying. You may have misunderstood the comment. I don't know if Tippett has ANY upside. Kurt is nearly 26, so is already in his prime years, and probably won't improve too much on his previous 3 or so years at whichever club he ends up at. Jenkins and McKernan are still young-ish, so we could still significant improvement from them.

Also, does anyone know if McKernan is a contracted player for next year?

Moo.

Is moo a replacement for that horrible word used to describe a ladies lower body part? :-)

I'm generally all for fair play and not being a shit bloke - but.i.can.not.wait. for a petrenko or danger to come off the line and absolutely clean him up next year, wherever he is at.
Generally when someone invests time, money and effort in you, you return them with service and performance - seeing as tippet has nicked off after all this investment in him, to potentially play at his prime at another club is what really REALLY makes him the shit bloke in this instance. I hope he gets concussed from plane turbulence whilst flying first class to his new destination and never plays again, thats how livid i am (and many others) with this goose.

I don't care if Kurt has no improvement left in him at all - there's almost no chance at all that Jenkins or McKernan will end up being as good as he is now. Jenkins will at least end up being a good AFL standard footballer, which is more than I can say for McKernan - but Tippett is in a different class entirely.

While I agree in totality with your post do you really think Petrenko is the guy to clean him up? I can just see him bouncing off Tip$, doing his shoulder and going off the ground crying :-)

the thing is, if he went home without a fuss we could all handle it (mostly), now that he's just getting out of adelaide, even if he does go to qld, hes still turned himself into a massive tosser.

a work mate asked me where he was going, i said 'hell'.

Teased to be in a different class entirely.. Still waiting.. And still waiting for him to do it consistently.. And against the better defenders/teams..

Whilst tippet is grovelling on all fours after spilling another mark, i can't see why petrenks can't flex a bit of hip and shoulder muscle (before heading off for the red vest :D)

hands up who cares if he sits out most of the rest of his career with concussion?
Hands up who will attempt to fast track this process by throwing gold coins at his head when they see him - cos obviously 800k isn't enough, we should help the poor bloke out.. (my hand is currently up now)

The only thing i care about is the compensation we'll get. If this was Dangerfield, i'd be bawling my eyes out & making a huge fuss, but since its some overrated hack whose not even worth half the money being proposed, i couldn't care less.

McKernan would be very surprising, but I think you're underestimating Jenkins. I think he'll become bloody good if we give him a regular spot. Tippett's first season in the AFL was no better than Jenkins was IMO. Needs to work very hard on his rucking over the pre-season though.

Article in HUN about an hour ago stating we are exposed in terms of draft as GWS cannot select him and he would slip to suns anyway. My understanding was they could if we gave permission.

Can someone please clarify??

No.. IS in a different class entirely. 50+ goal per year players do not grow on trees, let alone when they're combined with better than competent ruckmen. Why do you think clubs are reportedly offering him $1M? Most of the people on this board are embittered Adelaide fans, who (rightly) feel hard done by - and thus feel the need to put him down to minimise their sense of loss. In their haste to put him down they fail to understand just how good a player we are losing.

Settle!

If we are talking about pure upside and genuine talent, I think McKernan comes close. Now its a big if because it all depends on his belief in his own ability to be great but Shaun is a very good contested mark (not as good as Tippett but could be with more development), a better ruckman, a better kick and a better football brain.

Now if he doesn't work out he won't be the first nor the last talented player to not reach his potential but it doesn't mean that he is not talented.

Why Tippett made it is his work ethic and hunger for contest. Despite popular belief McKernan is a very talented player that suffers from lack of confidence and at times bad timing with injuries. If we can unlock that mental belief and self confidence the kid will be a star. Easier said than done no doubt but he is one big game away from getting that belief. Whether he gets it or not remains to be seen.

Jenkins is a different type of player. He is not a great contested mark but could be a good forward. He is more athletic, more agile and a better kick thaN Tippett but he sure is shit at actual ruckwork. I like Jenkins and his potential and he could work well as a forward but if McKernan can become that forward/ruckman that he has the potential to be, then I would love to see us play Jenkins at CHB (Talia at FB). Still train him at actual ruckwork so it gives us more flexibility to throw different looks at the opposition with Sauce/McKernan/JJ ruck options. JJ is a handy forward prospect but he is not stay at home, kick it on his head, long quick kick option. McKernan is more suited to that.

I think we will see a different forward line structure next year with 2 talls and more medium options.
