Why the attack on Noble? It's not exactly as if there's a whole lot he can do. He's got GWS and Carlton applying pressure, but until/unless Tippett and/or Sydney crack, there is bugger all that he can do.

Couldn't agree more. The angst directed towards Noble has been unfair, to date. He is stuck in the middle of a crap situation and is no doubt feeling the pinch. Let's go easy (for now!)

Things even out over the years in terms of these things, and yes, the karma bus stops off at all the clubs. For example, I know a few Hawks' supporters who are still bitter about the Jarman trade (at least Jarman wanted to come home, came home, and didn't deceive anyone). Still hopeful of better than pick 23, but I'm not gonna' cry over it if that's all we get. We've got a good list, and Kurt leaving and opening opportunities for others may make it even better. We need to start making a huge fuss about this - the AFL trade system is broken, either they step in and force Sydney to be reasonable, or we do the deal with GWS and let the AFL sort it out.

This whole thing hinges on our stomach to close talks with Sydney and tell tippett we are not dealing with Sydney. We will find you another home. I suspect lions would do something that might satify all parties.

If he refused to go anywhere else we had to be prepared to let him go to draft. With that level of uncertainty he or Sydney make have buckled. maybe he woukd have got through to them in draft anyway but that's our risk. No risk no reward.

We should have played this aggresively and exposed some weakness. Something may change but I doubt it. If we end up with 22 and white it will be a mess of our own making

Did we get value for money from Kurt's last 3 years?
He had a ripper 2009 which ended on his final goal from outside 50 to put the Crows in front. One for the books.
However.......since then he has been at best ok, with flashes of brilliance. so for the outlay it could be argued he did not return value. Yet he added an important presence to the forward line with his attack on the ball and this cannot be questioned. Although we were never sure if he had his kicking boots on he always provided a contest. He was the barometer for the side in games against strong opposition. His two contrasting games against Hawthorn this year proved that point. His lack of accuracy could be a killer at times but he never dropped his head. Among his strengths are his ability to keep pressure on in the forward line and present opportunities to crumbers. He adds structure. He demands the best defender. The opposition coaches respect him. At worst he is of great nuisance value for any defense. When he is on song he is unbeatable although this has been rare of late. He also has the ability to switch to rucking duties when required. Mr versatility! His worth to team structure cannot be understated. Was he value for money?? Most certainly!
Next question....Why should Adelaide be so upset at his defection?? Perhaps the wasted years of hard work to transform this raw kid from an obscure basketball background and with limited AFL knowledge to what he is about to become........ the highest paid player on the "Highest Bidders" payroll, and all for a measly pick 22.

Noble did a pretty good job with his trading overall last year, but at the moment he's got to HTFU!!

For us to get fair vallue, Sydney have to believe that they won't get Tippett because we will chuck him into the draft unless Sydney come up with his market worth, and the only way for that to be achieved is to give them a deadline and then tell them that all bets are off with them if they don't come good, and to actually do that when the deadline is reached.

In the meantime we should be commencing early discussions with others such as GWS and Carlton, and after the failed deadline, tell Tippett that Sydney is out and that he will be going elsewhere. iI he fails to agree to do that the threat - a serious one that will be carried out - is that he will be chucked into the draft, and hopefully orange is his favourite colour.

I can't believe that what FAITH said is right - that we will roll over and take pick 22 alone, whether he has been told that or guessing that. There are other interested parties sniffing around who are keeping our chances of bettering this very much alive.

It may all end up in a pile of shit, or we may end up smiling, but weakness on our part will only guarantee the first option.

If Tippett nominates his salary and I assume you mean he would raise the asking price then that also stuffs up Sydney as they would also have to accept Tippetts higher asking price and Sydney cant afford to pay more in the first 2 years.

People hear whispers and half truths from someone who said something. Sure there may be some truth in some of it, but it has turned into purplemonkeydishwasher by the time we hear it. Hodra is the only one who seems sorta close this year, and he said it early. I appreciate Faiths posts, and I am well aware this is a chat site for footy fans to say what they please. I'm just not about to trash my lounge room because of hearsay. It may well turn out Faith was spot on about all that has gone on, and I'll be the first to recognise this.

24 hours ago we were all buzzing and confident that we would end up with a good deal for Tippett.

I have no idea how this will all end up, but I haven't heard anything factual in the last 24 hours that says all is lost.

If we play our cards right, Sydney will improve their offer. Hopefully Noble and crew will do that.

It's still another 10 days before they pull stumps on the trade period. The only reason we will do the Tippett deal early is if it is preventing us moving on with another deal that we regard as important.

Hang in there folks. The party's only just starting IMO.

Interesting, we seem to be the biggest bunch of pussies at every trade. We should have set the tone right from the word go. When Ireland came out and said we will not give up any premiership players and continually ruled others out, our lot should have countered with a public media statement and told him if nothing decent is on the table we will terminate all negotiations after the first week. We needed to also make it clear right from that point he would have to nominate for the draft and we would re-drafted him. That threat had to be loud and clear right from the word go and we had to work to a tactic.
The perception is that our blokes seem to be all over the place, one day beating the war drums the next sounding like a bunch of social workers not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings.
Pick 22 is rubbish, I would rather take nothing than strengthen an opponent for that pick and let $kirt take a risk at one of the drafts.
I'm astonished our blokes think nice guys finish first and an sickened by the way (perceived way) we trade.
