Not sure if this has been mentioned ...
At least the possibility of him suing Crows has gone.
After the Crows fessed to the AFL the trade was taken out of their hands - they could not have honoured the contract even if they wanted to.
With that the possibility for breaching contract also vanished, no?

I am keen to hear more about KT telling other clubs he would retire if picked.
If this is true surely the AFL will squash him like a bug.
Trying to rort the Crows is one thing but the AFL just would not stand for that and I would expect him to be either deregistered or Swans banned from picking him up.

This was the tactic which delivered Chris Tarrant from Freo back to Collingwood. Exactly the same. The AFL did nothing. I assume, if true, its why Tippett will use it now.

It would seem then the only way it wont work if if the AFL , in the current climate, is a little more sensitive to players and clubs ignoring the rules

I would consider that an excellent use of our draft pick.

I agree that such blatant draft tampering shouldnt be allowed, and at this point 5aa is the only place ive heard of it being discussed.

people like to give rowe and cornes a hard time on here but they did have the inside info on the tippett clause early on and the phrase 'sold their soul' sounded like it came from a source very close to the action.

I would like to know what happens in this scenario, Vader or anyone else with more patience than me for long documents.

KT nominates 2mil/2years on his draft nom form.
GWS pick KT.
KT retires.

so i get that GWS wouldnt have to pay tippett the 2 mil because hes refusing to provide a service, but what about their cap? we know that sydney cant have him nominate 5mil/year and then pay him 800k, so what happens if he nominates and then doesnt get paid anything?

But it's OK to call him $kirt or some other bullshit childish name?

I guess it's OK for the masses to continue to lambaste him with unknown rumours, unknown truths and opinions that fit the common theme as long as it goes with the grain but as soon as someone steps away from the norm - they get told to have their say once but then STFU?

Not once, alex. You've had your say a good 50+ times. It's reached the stage where we're going in circles and I've asked you to stop. Please do so.

I'm not bothered by what your opinion, or anyone else's opinion, is or isn't. You'll notice I haven't given him some kind of offensive nickname either, even though I don't agree with his course of actions.

The point is, this is a football forum. People can come here and discuss football issues. What it is not for, is for people to argue backwards and forwards about whether a topic is deserving of discussion in it's own right. You've made your views on this point very clear now. I'd rather not have to ask you a third time to move on.

it was a lot more reasonable to tarrant who was about 30 at the time iirc. for tippett who is faced in the middle of his career with a choice of $2mil to live in a city other than sydney for 2 years, compared to $0 i think if true clubs wont be too afraid to call him on his bluff

That's my point. Why should I?

How about practice what people preach and ignore me.

After 19,000 post the attraction to calling him $kirt would have faded by now and the idiots can start posting as adults.

None of the idiot who post that would have the guts to say such a thing to his face. FFS.

Alex - I don't know you, but you seem a bit stuck to me.

You have to choose which way you want it ...

(1) you either keep posting the same argument, and accept that others will continue to post against that argument. You are doing exactly what they are doing ...right?

(2) you realise that there is no correct pov here, and let it lie. People have different opinions ... and no amount of agro will change that.

As far as no-one would have the guts to say this to his face ... not sure how old you are - and if you were a teacher I'd be disappointed. I would happily tell KT to his face that I thought he made some pretty stupid and selfish decisions regarding HOW he left - and the sooner he gets out from his dad's shadow the better. I would also have no problem explaining why he will be called $kirt by a lot of people, from now on.

He is just a 25 yr old kid. Why would he be intimidating at all?

If you think that being big and strong makes him scary - once again I wonder how old you are? The most intimidating person I have had to deal with was Rupert Murdoch - fair, but ruthless - he isn't very imposing physically though.

Alex, some free advice. People always respond better to an opinion that comes with a bit of empathy for the opposing pov. Imho.

Also - its good to concede every now and again when you realise you might have trodden over a line.

Yeah what he said Alex - nah nah nah!!

Hope they do. Would be interested to hear from anyone who knows more about the tarrant case.

Not to mention that it was Fremantle they played who have a reputation of talking tough then folding like a deck of cards. Even though our management is a bit weak, it would only take a small complaint from us or another club for the AFL to more or less guillotine the Tippett group for threatening retirement.

And to follow from this, might need vader again, but what's the process for his re-entry after the ban (12 mths?). Is he back in the national draft. If that's the case, it would be a pretty hollow threat.

Earlier this year I nearly ran over Kurt. True story. Backed out of the drive and he was walking on the road behind the car with (presumably) his girlfriend.

Not that interesting I know - just doing my bit to get us up to 20 000 :p

now I'm not posting in this thread again.:p

Alex, I'm not interested in entering your verbal war, but I must pick you up on this point.

His family?? The best thing for his family??

Firstly he is single.

His brother plays in Adelaide and is probably playing in Qld next year.

His sister lives in Qld.

His parents live in Qld.

Tippett is not going to Qld, he is going to Sydney - for mega-dollars.

Tippett is a selfish prick who thinks of nobody but Tippett and rolling in dollars like Scrooge McDuck.

To paint him as a noble creature doing the best thing for his own family has zero credence I'm afraid.

Fair enough.

Like it or not, he was leaving. Where he went, doesn't really matter.

I'd suggest, many people would find it really hard to knock back $4 million over 4 year to set them and there future economical security up for the rest of his life.

I also find it very strange to suggest we would not be having this conversation had he selected the Gold Coast or Brisbane. The only difference is the subject. The bitching, caring on and complaining about Kurt Tippett would still be occurring because it was happening way before he suggested he was going to Sydney. Or have we forgotten that?

If you're going to insult me by questioning my occupation, can you please get the argument right?

What you said is polar opposite to my argument. I didn't said people would not have the courage to ask him and question his decisions in an adult way with a logical and rational question. My argument was about people going up to him and calling him $skirt.

Any one who would act like that is either socially awkward, not very mature or lacking in human qualities that are associated with society. Because you are asking someone to not react to a childish insult that doesn't need to be said.

If you went up to him and suggested his reason for leaving were not to your liking and used an appropriately use of words - no one would have a problem with it. But I laugh at our suggestion you would call him $kirt to his face.

BTW - nothing about being intimidating, it's about acting like a socially respectable and responsible human being.

If not, it's only fair you delete them. That's only fair right?
