The thing is we gained an undeserved advantage by offering an illegal deal to a player who may have otherwise left. So if we hadn't made this agreement, we would have been without Tippett for the past three years. Having gained this advantage that arguably would affect our WL column over a period of time we deserve to be whacked with a pretty hefty penalty all things considered.
Just because we screwed ourselves at the closing of the contract, doesn't change the fact that we got what we wanted for the '09-'12 seasons.
That's all true, but we've already been partly penalised when the AFL blocked any trade for Tippett. We would have otherwise got something for him, even if it was just pick 23. And for those who say he shouldn't have been there to trade, that means we missed out on whatever pick/player we could have got in 2009.

Whichever way you look at it, making him non-tradeable is a punishment. I'm sure there's more to come but they should take this into account.

Yes, but we only missed out on that player in 2009 because we tried to maximise our returns, illegally. You cannot frame that as a punishment.

I hope they do, mind you. But I doubt it.

I agree with what youve written but didn't we only benefit for 2 years? He was signed for 2010 anyway. We've screwed ourselves for 2 lousy years of underachieving football.

this thread has turned into irrelevant filler to get as many posts as possible:

The sauce topic was the only thing keeping a few of us sane a couple of weeks ago when all of this was hitting the fan. But you are right some has been filler, just like this one replying to you to stay on Topic.
I hope we find out this week tomorrow pref so we can take our licks and move on.
Edit..we all know what happened to Porkins soon after this fateful remark...need I say more.

Nevertheless we are not currently in a neutral position. A loss has been incurred by the club ie. Tippett's trade value, due to an action taken by the AFL ie. not letting us trade an asset. The penalty has already commenced.

Why can't anyone else understand what a Kitchener bun is?? Is it that hard - bloody cream buns over here are like a bread roll with fake cream ...

And don't get me started on "jam filled donuts" that don't have holes in them !!!

Love Kitchener Buns. Love Pasties from SA. Love Frog Cakes. Cant get good ones up here in QLD.

When Carlton got caught they were penalised with a fine and also the loss of future draft picks. They didnt lose any of the players that they secured because of their actions. If Melbourne are found to be guilty they will more than likely lose future picks and get fined. Will they also lose the players that they secured illegally. No!

Why is the media talking about us being fine, losing draft picks and losing point. We have already lost an assest. No other club lost any assests. Where is the equity

Is this correct? I thought they did lose the player, whose name I now forget.

I guess the AFLPA would have kicked up a fuss if they did.

Adding my 2 cents in here. I don't like sauce at all - the red stuff. The player is a top bloke.

GRAVY any day of the week. Chips and gravy will always trump chips and sauce.

Plain pies, no sauce is a winner. We're lucky that we have 2 great pie makers in SA, that acutally make decent tasting pies...

Oh, and what's this I hear about people writing in this thread about a bloke named Tippett???:D

Villis and Villis:thumbsu:

We used to make our own sauce. I love that on crumpets with melted butter! That shit is to die for.

A crumpet with butter then fritz and sauce, to die for! Fritz no good in Sydney, doesn't come close to the stuff in SA.

Plain salt and vinegar is the only way to eat chips. Unless they are Happy Birds Chips from Port Pirie with their unique seasoning salt which is to die for.

Nikki - Poutine? What is Poutine? Is it legal? Will my drug dealer have a stable supply for my future addiction? When I'm convicted of trafficking Poutine, after robbing from all my friends and family, and have been sentenced to life in prison. Will I share a cell with Triggy, $kurt and Blutcher? And Who gets the top bunk because...?
There are so many questions to be asked and answered!

A Canadian classic - fries with cheese curds and smothered in gravy. Unbelievable.
