Woah Dude!
I'd take the player... I don't think our pick next year will be a whole heap better.http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport...-players-to-lose/story-e6freck3-1226511021945
This says the Dees will have 7 days to respond meaning they will still be able to participate in the draft. Surely we must as well. But would we be better off losing our first pick this year given its shit or are we better banking a player and getting them into the system?

You have to be kidding, the player pick at 20 could also end up a dud. Melbourne thought premiership points were worth less than picks too, see how that worked out. One player does not make a team, losing points would be the worst possible result.
Me and the mates reckon Sheedy is banging the drum a bit loud for someone who doesn't have to
Think he's trying to force syd & tipp to put a mega high price tag in the draft so he falls to sydney & their cap is buggered. Meanwhile the old fox is laughing his head off
What happens if the AFL decides that our penalty should be something minor or just a fine? What then, do we get compensated for not being able to trade Tippett?

I suspect the AFL would be able to claim that since Swans weren't going to offer anything we would accept and Tippett wouldnt go elsewhere that a deal was unlikely anyway and PSD was the most likely result.Thats an interesting question. Given they forced us not to draft (in the last week) it now falls on them. If we are found to be guilty of a lesser crime and the penalty reflects this would we have the right to demand of or sue the AFL. I see Shine Lawyers are advertising here so perhaps we should "stand our ground".

i agree but i think its a reason for the afl to make the argument that we wouldnt need to be compensated. But that is an assumption on behalf of the AFL.
It's our own fault revealing the issue so late that we didn't give them time to investigate it. I would say its bad luck.Thats an interesting question. Homeless? That's a tad harshWould laugh so hard if poor little Kurt went into the draft, but no club thought he was worth the money or the hassle and he ended up homeless and out of the AFL forever.
Uh - no. Completely wrong.
Melbourne created a culture of losing.
We will still win sixteen games, with a stronger squad longterm that includes a first round pick. We will just be credited with fourteen wins. And once we're in the finals, out destiny is our own to control. Win a match or two, and where you finished is irrelevant.
Any possibility the AFL could decide that Tippett has to be traded for fair value and they force the Swans to give us pick 23 and Rohan. My god I would laught very hard if that happened!!I suspect the AFL would be able to claim that since Swans weren't going to offer anything we would accept and Tippett wouldnt go elsewhere that a deal was unlikely anyway and PSD was the most likely result.

Would never wan to lose premiership points as it would be demoralizing for the playing group
Losing premiership points punishes the team, losing picks punish the club
If we lost pick 20 the team will still go into the season chock full of confidence, if we lost 8 premiership points the tam moral would be seriously dented
Homeless? That's a tad harsh
Matt Rendell does.Correct. Clueless to say youd rather lose points.
Pick 20 could be shithouse.
Pre Dangerfield we sucked with our first few picks. We were always much better at finding the roughies late. Who says that we cant do that again.

Matt Rendell does.
sorry i dont disagree with you but i couldnt resist
Yeah, nah! Not gonna happen!Any possibility the AFL could decide that Tippett has to be traded for fair value and they force the Swans to give us pick 23 and Rohan. My god I would laught very hard if that happened!!![]()
