Under circumstances Joyce was the logical choice and really lucky to stay on list before as had very ordinary season and never going to be a impact player and very very unlikely to be picked up by anyone else , so will be there if we feel we should .

Cheers, but unfortunately for me...Breaking Bad? Obviously, I need a life!

This is not Tippett's fault. It is our fault. We chose our path now we need to finish it.
We were under no obligation to agree to what was put in front of us. They can only look into themselves for responibilty, we can only do the same.

vigilance would of ended it, before it begun.

I now advocate the rolling of heads.

it is a principle of our legal system that everyone, including the AFC and Tippett, is entltled to a fair trial. This means being properly represented. It also means there is a presumption of innocence.

However, in our case:

"Forget it Jake, it's Vlad Town"

When I was deciding what I wanted to be in life I considered, briefly, law. This is why I never became a lawyer:

I said to myself: can I defend someone who I know is guilty? The answer was, no.

I said to myself: can I prosecute someone who I know is innocent? The answer was, no.

These are simple moral questions, most of us on BF would say ‘no’ to both without hesitation.

All parties in this mess have hired guys who would say 'yes' to both without hesitation...It is going to get very, very, ugly.
I think what motivates defense lawyers are the countless people who are innocent that they can defend. What motivates prosecutors is serving justice to the guilty. The system (generally) works because everyone has a right to counsel and when all of the facts are presented the judge makes the decision on whether the person is guilty or not beyond reasonable doubt. Even if you have to defend a guilty person it is up to the procecutor and the courts to prove they're guilty and if they have a good case against the person then justice will prevail. When the system is working 100%, that is. Agreed though, tough job but I can see why they do it.

In 1999, Melbourne were fined $600,000 and forfeited their first, second and third round picks in the National Draft for two years after it was found that they had committed serious and systematic breaches of the salary cap regulations totalling $810,000 between 1995 and 1998.

In 2001, Carlton were fined $125,150, forfeited their second and third round picks in the 2001 National Draft and were excluded from the 2002 pre-season draft after it was found that they had failed to disclose payments totaling $239,900 to captain Craig Bradley and incorrectly lodged an additional services agreement document during the 1998 and 1999 seasons

In 2002, Carlton were fined a record $987,500 and forfeited their priority picks in the National Draft, their first and second round picks in the National Draft for two years and were excluded from the 2003 pre-season draft after an AFL investigation found that they had committed serious and systematic breaches of the salary cap regulations totaling $1.37 million between 1998 and 2001; ruckman Matthew Allan was suspended for five matches and fined $10,000 for accepting undisclosed payments from club officials

In 2009, Adelaide Crows offered a player the opportunity to be traded to a club of his choice at the end of his new contract, if he so chose, circumventing the draft process. They offered to guarantee $100,000 of commercial sponsorships (which did not eventuate in payment), and didn't disclose to the AFL $30,000 of third party payments which the club directly influenced being paid.

Not to sound like a homer, but one of these seems less severe than the others.

Hope someone is able to answer this.

With Joyce delisted, our squad sits at 37 (including Tippett).

At the National Draft we will have two picks (1 to probably re-draft Joyce, and another for a new draftee) + another pick to officially upgrade Callinan. This takes the list to the maximum 40.

Tippett can then be delisted from our list before the 3rd List Lodgement on November 29. On November 29, our list will come back down to 39.

My question is how do we fill the final spot (#40) on our list? Will we be allowed to, or do we just stay with 39 players on the main list for 2013?

Will it be via the pre-season draft on December 11 or will we be able to upgrade another rookie (eg. Laird)? I ask because there is speculation we may be banned from the pre-season draft.

So did Edwardson not know that McGee was guilty when he represented him?

Guilt is a matter of interpretation of the Law. I don't know about this case but even if you know they did the act itself, there still may be defences available via the law. Edwardson would not have been allowed to knowingly mislead or provide false information.

After the father son picks and rookie picks there are only 79 live selections, which means at worse case scenario our picks are effectively equivalent to picks in the 80s.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but why did we NOT hire this guy?

When you're making contracts outside the official AFL contract you don't want a criminal lawyer.........you want a criminal lawyer.

You wont be able to upgrade any more rookies as that is done at the national draft. If you are banned from PSD and rookie draft then you will remain on 39. If not you could add an extra player through PSD or take 5 rookies( you already have 3)

She's definitely going hard on that one.

I do find her a bit hypocritical on the Rendell incident though. I remember watching the Rendell interview on Footy Classified. Caro seemed to basically ignore what Rendell was saying and was just trying to attack him further. She had already made her mind up about the situation and nothing was going to remotely change her mind.

I got the impression that she though Trigg's decision was absolutely the right one to make, yet her article above now suggests that Trigg handled it badly (which I think he did). So she seems to have changed her opinion now to suit this article (which is not really surprising to me).

Caro's article is a hughely pointed about-face. My impression is something or someone, in the last day or so, has really pissed her off concerning Trigg. She is really chasing him down. Its chalk and cheese though with her kid glove treatment of Blucher.

So did Edwardson not know that McGee was guilty when he represented him?
That case had less to do with whether McGee actually committed the offense and more to do with technicalities and multiple police bungles. Everyone knew that McGee hit the cyclist and left him for dead, but it was the incompetence of the police that lead to a lack of admissible evidence. Edwardson is a shrewd guy; he identified this, and hopefully he'll destroy the AFL on monday

So did Edwardson not know that McGee was guilty when he represented him?

David Edwardson was not responsible for creating this incident. Nor was he responsible for properly prosecuting McGee. His responsibility was to ensure the prosecution did their job properly in order to secure the conviction they sought.

If you are looking for answers don't bother looking in his direction.

Anyway.....waaaay off topic

We will have our 2 picks in the ND then take Joyce in the PSD to replace Tippett.
