Honestly what does everyone think tiprat will get? id expect it would need to be severe to discourage other players from trying the same

Well he is atleast off our list. Thank god. I'll be keen to see our penalty tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be on the road to recovery and put this god awful mess being behind us.

If they don't make them suspended, then surely the AFC must take this to court. Surely we could argue that we would have been denied natural justice, given that our penalty would have exceeded that handed to Carlton a decade ago - when Carlton's was by any measure the significantly worse offence.
As,you say Vader, if our lawyers and Ceo are worth any salt it should go to court.

Surely the Afl would have to go with precedent from previous cases.

Our nearest fellow offenders I would think are.

1996 Essendon $514,000 breach over 5 yrs. Lost 1st,2nd, 3rd round picks plus rookie and preason draft for that year. $638k fine.

1998 West Coast $165k breach over 2 years. Lost 3rd round pick and 100k fine.

2001(not 2002) Carlton $239k breach. Lost 2nd and 3rd round pick, plus pre season with $125k fine.

Wituout us knowing full truyh, why are our penalties being touted as so much higher than these

Perhaps the draft tampering part? But it could be argued each these involved that too.

Heads need to roll somewhere of we get screwed.

Have heard this arvo that Adelaide may have been cautioned by the AFL over defending themselves 'too vigorously'. The AFL were very keen to convince Adelaide to plead guilty.

Not exactly sure what to make of that.
It is easier to apply a good rogering if they aren't twisting and turning and just do the right thing...

So the dictatorship at work. I wonder if the same message would have been given to Eddie.

It is interesting to see this. Then again if Crows did 'defend too vigorously' and won I wouldn't be surprised if the AFL then decided to turn around and charge something like 'putting the game into disrepute' or such just out of spite

That sounds so absurd .

Although EQ's article is probably intended to give a blow by blow for those not in the loop of this saga, it really galvanized everything for me.
Some have said that it's not what we haven't heard before, but for someone who has read both Tippett's mega threads, there were some interesting tidbits I hadn't heard before.

Bingo! Just checked the manifest, there is a few more shipments on the way with the goods
did we get regular, or desensitizing lube?

Vader - bad call on AFGM; I've enjoyed his posts since he dropped the campaign to convince people they should be nice to Craigy. Apologies for not supporting you on that but I just flat out disagree. People haven't been listening to his information and reading it in the context of how he is likely getting it. Too caught up on semantic arguments rather than acknowledging he's had his finger on the pulse for the longest from those within the club who want a change of administration given some of the crap decision making in recent times.

Just on Craigy - I wonder he was in all this mess? AFGM?

Jenny - I feel for you, must be tough as it slowly gets to the point the crimes of the administration will cost them their jobs. (or should). I'd like to strongly encourage you to think rationally. We've had our tussles over umpiring decisions, AFL and other crap where you felt the club is hard done by. Don't let this outcome make you bitter against the rest of the world when the reality is Reid, Trigg, Harps (and possibly others) only have themselves to blame. The longer this has gone on and the more information has come out I'm at the point I wouldn't be surprised if it was us (probably Reidy) that put the proposal to the Tippetts in the first place. It's not that much of a stretch.

Slippery - I did my research on Emma a while back mate, doesn't float my boat 'that' way. But love her journalism - that latest article is a very well written piece. Nikki, I get where you're coming from but I think most can seperate banter on a journalists looks from their effectiveness.

Why is it we dismissed Rendell as a potential leak for EQ in the early days of all this? Has motive and most the information. No wonder he didn't want to stay in 'club land' if he saw the shit draft opportunities coming!??!?! (that's a joke people but plausible given he's back at 'The Club')

Tomorrow will be interesting - I'm flat out at work but will do my best to present for the ensuing shit storm.

I spoke to someone last night that had recently spoken with Trigg (int he last 2 days). The club are fully expecting to get smashed here. We are in some very deep trouble.
The fine as reported sounds about right. We will lose the first 2 round picks in the next two drafts (which makes it three drafts in total) - this is going to crush us in 6-10 years time. Some very lean years are ahead.
Trigg is expecting to be banned from any and all AFL positions for a lengthy period of time. He was hoping to argue it down to a 6 month ban, but it is most likely to be years. He won't be our CEO this time next week. Reid will cop a similar ban. Harper also although a smaller time frame.

Ultimately Trigg is gone, Reid punished, Harper gone. We lose the equivalent of 8 first round draft picks (the 6 from the National drafts plus the 2 we could have had from Brisbane for Tippett). Our ability to negotiate and keep our star players in the future will be massively hampered. Our premiership window that was just opening will close exceptionally quickly. We will need to become absolute masters of trading and free-agent trickery.
And all of this for a selfish egotistic nob-end who is an overpaid and overrated tosser. Management at its finest people.

You know that eerie sound on The Dark Knight? That scratching of wire against wire every time something sinister was about to happen? Subtle but you'll instantly recognise it if you watch it again.

That's all I'm hearing now after reading your post :(
