All you tools talking about tanking and winning under 4 games so we can get draft picks in a draft dominated by the gold coast side can go follow another team like carltank or the hawks... we dont need your shit at this club.. i know it's been a long time coming but all your doing is giving the club a bad name... Look at yourselfs grow up and stick with club other wise gtfo and support someone else...

Support your clubs pride and if you bleed yellow and black then you will keep behind them... stop the sooking stop the tanking talk and concentrate on next week.. whats done is done

We won't tank and we might win some games.
Carlton have already started, so we only have to win 3 to hand the tanking back to "Carltank".

This is the kind of mentality that will destroy us. 1) this draft aint dominated by the goldcoast, and 2) How do you suggest we get the cattle to win a flag by not tanking? We cant rort the salary cap like the old days buddy.

draft pool being weak i think u mean it's not deep. which is more reason to finish badly so we get early picks when the good players are still on the board.

Look we are well able to lose without tanking. We are a crap side and that helps in making losing honestly possible. Richmond is heading to a dark place unless someone high up has the balls to stand up today and ask Terry into the office.

That Sir is disgracefull there is NO honour in tanking. As a 20+ year member of this club I feel ill that anyone is looking at draft picks after round 4. No wonder other teams fans laugh at us

You have had access to the picks/players over the last 10 years, you have the cattle, you are lacking in the development of the cattle.

Despite common misconceptions, Richmond hasn't drafted poorly, you have taken players that were at the time highly rated. Most haven't developed into the players you would have expected.

That is the almost the exact same mantra that TW has fed us for 5 years and look where we are. We have a list clogged with stars who are in the deep twilight of their career and youth who are giving our recruiters a very bad reputation.

We have 2 options. One - we continue down the same path. Hope that Cuz, Cogs, and Cotch can come in and lift us to a finals campaign.

Two - face up to reality and realise that if you are banking on a combination of Richo, Bowden, Brown, Simmonds, Cousins, Johnson, and comeback kid Coughlan to make finals then we our side doesn't have much of a future.

The truth is that TW, prior to the leagues committments to the Gold Coast and West Sydney, was probably right. We could have a crack in 2009 with the ageing stars but it wouldn't be until 2011 that we would be really ready to have a sustained tilt. He was probably hoping that a combination of the ageing stars and the new generation Lids, Foley, Cotch, Rance, McGuane, etc that this year would get him an extension and give the fans some faith.

The problem is however that when Richo, Bowden, Brown, Simmonds, Cousins, Johnson retire we won't be able to replace them with reasonable draft picks as a mid table finish will net us what would have previously been a low first round pick.

We don't have a forward, when Richo is playing on the wing, that gives us confidence going forward and we have a dearth of quality ball users.

Like I have outlined in a previous post - if we don't win 5 of the next 7 then finals are out of the question and we really must bite the bullet play JON, Hughes, Putt, Thomson and Post and not scrape out a so called honourable but really mediocre, future threatening mid table position.

So yes round 4 may be a tad early to tank but it's not too early to start planning for the changes that must occur if we obviously can't make the finals.

You misunderstand me, Its not looking to the future it is the concept of trying to loose that I find abhorrent. I hate loosing with a passion. (It took me two hours to get home last night, took a nice long drive) . Working out what if's is fine, manufacturing losses is not. I never want to a blues supporter and be happy with a bottom 4 finish.

All the 'Carltank'/ Rivalry shit aside, this is possibly the best and most insightful post I have ever read on the Richmond Board.

Agree 110%

I don't think anyone is seriously thinking of tanking at the moment, least of all Terry Wallace and the Richmond football club.

One team sacked a legendary coach mid season to take on one who publicly stated he was content to lose games to get the first draft choice.

Thankfully that is not our style.

(btw Cotchin was not a bad second prize ...)
