Why would GWS want a washed up over-the-hill plodder in Goldstein? Stick a fork in this spud. He’s roasted.

Highly doubt that. Why would GWS want a washed up over-the-hill plodder in Goldstein? Stick a fork in this spud. He’s roasted.
Highly doubt that.
Not many teams have a Preuss in reserve and Goldstein (when not sooking) is very handy.
Perfect sole ruckman with a change of scenery and the number 1 mantle. He just doesn't share well. Maybe it's a Jewish thing.

Nothing in the injury. If anything some of these injuries at North have been excuses to drop a player on the verge of embarrassing themselves when in a coach assisted rut. That's the problem, his years of handling the ruck load solo with large TOG could mean it has taken it's toll.
He might bounce and maybe it truly was just a down year but i am sitting on the fence at the moment as to whether he can regain great form,
maybe a slow year was exactly what the doctor ordered so to speak.
What were his knee problems last year?
Probably depends how much Preuss progresses/dominates pre season. So what is to become of Goldy ?
Do North play him in the ruck next season and risk Pruess walking for senior opportunity (there will be suitors) ?
Or does he become the most expensive VFL ruckman in history over the next 2 seasons ?
Probably depends how much Preuss progresses/dominates pre season.
They'll likely share the ruck for a while with Daw in the seconds (if Preuss shows as much as he did last pre season).
Losses will build up and they'll probably drop Preuss to see how Goldy goes solo then Preuss will drop form/get injured in the two's.
Goldy will play until round 16-17 when Preuss recovers or they give Daw a last hurrah. The usual sort of pattern at North.

If North don't go with Pruess next season you can only imagine the other clubs will be all over him like a pack of hyenas being out of contract at seasons end ...
Goldy will get 1st crack at the number 1 ruck - if his form holds up Preuss will need to bide his time. He is only 22 and will build into becoming a teams number 1 ruck.
Goldies last 2 games of the year were very good and starting to look like the AA ruck he was in 2015. A good pre-seaon and he can get back to being one of the premier rucks in 2018.
If Goldy is playing better football then he either plays as the back up ruck or in the VFL. He knows Goldy only has a couple of years left and his time will come.Would seem a very risky practice asking Pruess to bide his time in the reserves with him being out of contract at the end of the 2018 season .
That leaves the door ajar for other clubs and you can bet they'll kick it down ...

You have a pretty weird obsession with this idea.Would seem a very risky practice asking Pruess to bide his time in the reserves with him being out of contract at the end of the 2018 season .

Not the worst position to be in though, preuss will definitely get his chance to impress this year, with us looking at a bottom 4 finish I think the coaches will try a few more games with 2 rucks.
If Preuss continues to play well and other clubs come knocking, we'd be asking for a first rounder at a minimum. Can't see him being out of contract affecting that at all.
Could also see us trading goldy to a contender next year and paying the majority of his wages to bring his value up, then move forward with Preuss as our number 1.
Things can easily change in a year, if goldy even gets close to back to the high level he's shown before, clubs will be lining up.Let's face it , no club wanted Goldy this year so can't see it next year .
If the number 1 position isn't given to Pruess , other clubs will come knocking and Pruess would be mad not to listen .
FWIW , i think Pruess must be given the job and unfortunately Goldy and his contract bound for the VFL ...

Why would preuss be mad not to listen? He's 22, and obviously seen as the long term ruck at North, and is in a position where his current club can offer him more money than any other club.
FWIW, your opinion isn't really that important when it comes to what the team does with its players. I'd still much rather pay goldy 800k a year to be a backup than lobbe 500k a year to play VFL
Nobody wants Goldy and his contract , do yourself a favor and accept it .
If North in rebuild are silly enough to play Goldy in front of Pruess then they will deserve it when Pruess accepts another clubs offer .
Port are covering 30% of Lobbe's contract .
Lobbe is strictly back up insurance as Goldy should be from now on .
Insurance is insurance , the difference is North are paying premium rates and Carlton are paying peanuts ...
Haha you're manufacturing this storyline in your own head. If we trade goldy, we'll be paying part or most of his contract to get the most value.Nobody wants Goldy and his contract , do yourself a favor and accept it .

So with the Blues rebuilding Kreuzer shouldn’t play ones and you should let a developing ruck play? Keep Kreuzer as insurance as he won’t be around for your next flag tilt?

Preuss will play a majority of games this year barring injury, and will be in line for a very good contract from the Roos.
You're right though, insurance is insurance, and I highly doubt north are anywhere near the salary cap, goldys contract won't be an issue for us. It's all in your head bud.
His salary clearly isn't an issue for us, we made some massive offers to players this off season.Nobody wants Goldy .
He for the next 2 years will be the most expensive ruckman in VFL history .
His VFL salary wont be an issue ?
List management 101 right there ...

So if Pruess went to the Blues next year you would want Kreuzer playing in the VFL?Carlton don't have Pruess on the list .
North do and would be foolish not to make him the number one ruckman before another club does .
