Have you seen the size and aggression of Pruess ?
Pretty sure he would be the one handing out the hurt .
Age hasn't hurt Grundy and Pruess would have Daw to share the load when needed in any case .
I was at our Hobart game last year. He at least matched Mummy, took contested marks and drifted firward to kick goals. Best ruck prospect I've seen for a long time.
We aren't really in need of rucks but like any team, if there was a chance of getting him I hope we'd go for it. Probably have to move someone on to fit him in. Dont think there will be a chance though.

Pruess is expected to sign a new two year deal and north as a club isn't stupid enough to let Pruess walk for an extra year of Goldstein.

A lot of the discussion here is moot from Carlton posters. If Pruess is actually better than Goldstein and Goldstein is crap, then Pruess will take his spot, simple as that. If Pruess isn't good enough, he won't. Potential is great, but earning a best team position solidifies said potential. Pruess knows that Goldstein is almost finished and from all reports is grateful for giving him a shot from the rookie list.

North struggle to attract players, but very players have left of their own free will over the past decade. Speaks volumes about culture.

Daw would have been delisted if he didn't have another two years on his contract. He's not even at Goldys standard when Goldy is having a shocker. Don't bother factoring him in to our future, he won't be there.

I get that. If you'd offerred Pruess for Kelly we'd might have had the makings of a deal. I get that wouldn't be in North's interests though.

Just on Kelly I do think he was close to signing for us on $800k in February last year, that's generally what we pay our best players. I think in the end we closed the gap to North's offer a fair bit. Reports we extended Heater and backended his contract to find cash seem genuine and not originally planned. We also paid a price in limiting the offer we made to Smith, and likely in not offering Kennedy a contract.

Carlton don't have Pruess on the list .
Kruezer is valuable and needed , Goldy is neither .
I guess others can decide who of North or Carlton are heading in the right direction ...

lol others can decide?? The ladder is the source of truth and until you finish above us Roos >>> Blues.

I am just looking forward to the bottom 6 draw you have had the last 3 years - next year will be your 4th in a row. But please enlighten us on what we should do with Goldy - what has worked at the Blues to have 4 bottom 6 draws in a row.

Pruess isn't ready to be a number 1 ruck - he will be groomed under Goldy and get his chance when ready.

Seems to be some confusion between North supporters re the current contractual situation of Pruess ?
Perhaps snake has jumped the gun in declaring he is locked away until 2020.
In any case , North would be crazy to let Goldy and his contract muddy the waters with other clubs watching closely .
Make Pruess the number 1 ruckman and accept that the clubs highest paid player will spend the next 2 years in the VFL .
Such is life ...

No, a two year deal is in front of him and he's still contracted for next year. Brown experienced a similar delay in signing his contract.

I like North and i hope they have the courage to do the rebuild right .
Just call things as i see them ...

You're a troll. Ignore.

Also, Calton supporters, jeez. I see they have got another hot new girlfriend, but yet again, she doesn't go to our school, so nobody knows her or has seen her.
To be fair, it's only one Carlton numpty who reckons they'll pick up Preuss for peanuts because we have goldy.

Most level headed opposition supporters realise that there's no imaginary drama between our rucks, we're just set now and in the future.

My manager is a mad north supporter and he was up in Port Douglass on leave at the same time as Preuss was up there a month(ish) ago. He and his missus were at the same bar as Preuss and his missus one night and ended up chatting and playing pool together at the end of the night. The guy loves North and is grateful to them for giving him his opportunity. Unlikely he’s going anywhere unless a massive offer is made, and if that happens expect the trade to be premium price.

He’s not going anywhere. Expect him to re-sign early-mid next year imo.

I heard something very similar a few weeks/a month ago even though the majority of "rumours" were stating the opposite.

I seriously rate this bloke so was trying to get intel. I cant see him coming to us. But it would be really interesting if he did become "available" i think alot of people would be seriously surprised by what would get offered for him

Picks can only be rated relative to list needs.

(e.g.) There's no way on earth a player like Lever is worth 2 x 1st round picks if you are rebuilding your list, but I can certainly see why a club in Melbourne's position would spend that value.

if a club comes along and thinks they need a good ruckman to finish off their list, then that ruckman could go for a very high pick, dependent on where the destination club was positioned. Your club would actually be a good example if Lobbe were to go down with a bad injury. You would need a ready to go ruckman, more than you would need, say............pick 12. It's all relative.

IMO, this is what North are waiting for. If they can't get it, they will just hold on to the players.

I will be honest. You kinda lost me at lobbe and 'my club'... but

You also did kinda chip in with information that had basically nothing to do with what i said.

Im assuming you would rather talk about those things. In that case.

- ive always believed that about the draft every year. Welcome to the bottom. Or the top end

- 2x first rd picks in this draft for lever. Id do that quite happily as far as value is concerned . We dont have hindsight yet. Only an idiot judges it now.

- clubs will always come around looking for mature ruck prospects. But the trade window is limited. Something your club has never been great with in the ruck department imo. You seem to develop alot of rucks. But never all that much trade value on average.

Just calm down tef. Still plenty of off season to go.

Two first rounders, kelly, or tell your story walking bucko

The reality is a fit goldstein is the best ruckman in the league. If he grew a beard he would have been AA this year.
Not really, Jacobs had a better year than Goldy this year.

Given Roos are rebuilding, really thought this was the year to cash in picks for Goldy & develop Preust for next assault.

That is true but a fit goldy is the league's best. Jacobs a close second...daylight...martin.

I thought so too. Apparently he doesn't want to leave melbourne because of his kids so that is a big stumbling block. I would have packaged him up with pick 21 and looked to move further up the draft. Pay most of his wages too.

I'd be more than happy with preuss and daw as a backup. Worst case scenario mckay and durdin can offer a chop out (Mobile types like mooney and petrie have had success in the past). Can't play 2 rucks in the modern game, especially when short people that swarm are having great success (dogs in 2016, tigs in 2017).
