Dont worry about it head to head the hit outs were even. Bellchambers did flog Stanley and thats were his numbers are inflated.

t was the hits to advantage percentage that was miles fdifferent though. Belly's taps were going to our guys. McEvoys were going to our guys too.

But I agree, 1 game, 2 ruckmen very early in their careers, is not worth comparing just yet.

McEvoy.........Im not sure how Bellchambers is even ahead let alone by this margin. Besides their number of hitouts, McEvoy is easliy better around the ground and in most fascets of their games. Bellchambers had a decent performance but lets no get carried away.

Bellchambers is a better athlete, McEvoy has more football ability, it depends on what you value in a ruckman. Big Tom will always be better in the hitout department but will unlikely match McEvoy around the ground. I voted for Bellchambers because I'm biased.

Big year to McEvoy, while Bellchambers couldn't even keep his spot.

McEvoy has opened up a big quality gap on him now and is ready for polls against far better ruckman then Bellchambers.

Entertaining older thread, pleased to see I did not take part in it :)

It's always interesting to revisit polls, especially when the results would probably be revised had they been done more recently. In saying that I do believe Bellchambers has significant room for improvement; but at this stage the more reasonable choice would probably be McEvoy. A good poll to revisit again in 3 or 4 years.

This poll reflects their 2011 Nab Cup form where Belly out performed McEvoy in both our pre-season games, put simply McEvoy got games cause the saints had no ruckmen & we had three to choose from.

Well Bellchambers had Hille and Ryder to compete with, who exactly is McEvoy competing with?

Interestingly in their round 3 encounter where Hille didn't play, Bellchambers racked up 41 hit outs, 12 disposals and a goal directly opposed to McEnvoy.

McEvoy has shown more than T-Bell. This can be attributed to the fact Bellchambers is third in the pecking order at Essendon while McEvoy is the primary ruckman at St. Kilda. I'd have McEvoy ahead now but am happy with Bellchambers and excited to see his continual development over 2012

This pretty much sums it all up.

Ben showed a lot against some of the best ruckman in the comp. I would love to see Bellchambers given that opportunity at some stage.

McEvoy. He actually averaged more hitouts this year than Bellchambers, and is one of the leading contested markers in the league.

Maybe needs to get forward more, and kick more goals. That's what I'd be doing.

Again, that comes down to opportunity.

It will be interesting comparison once Hille retires.

Of course he averaged more hit outs, he the Saints sole ruckman all year. Happily admit he's a fantastic contested mark.

I acknowledge that he's had more opportunity(although I'm sure Bellchambers had at least one game as the sole ruckman), my only point is that he's no slouch with the hitouts and probably better around the ground.

If I had a choice out of the two right now I would take Mcevoy.
Maybe different in a few years who knows.

He's played one game as the sole ruckman, his 9th career game. Round 21 2009, against Freo at Subi with Sandilands monstering him. Even then Hooker gave him a chop out (if you can call it that...)

Interestingly enough, I don't think McEvoy would've commanded any more games than Bellchambers did at Essendon in 2011.

For whatever reason (can only be the ability to play FF) Hille is preferred at this stage by our coaches, despite many fans believing Bellchambers already overtook Hille in 2011.

The sub rule really worked against Bellchambers, as he's (like McEvoy) not much of a natural forward.

The big M after his 2011 season. He was very good. He took on the ruck duties pretty much single handed
