When we're judging how many friends someone has at the club by ******* instagram photos, we know we've gone too far.

Seriously dude. Look at what you just wrote.
This is exactly why I question posting this information now. Wild speculation, annoying opposition supporters and Bulldogs supporters saying stupid shit.
We have a game coming up against Sydney in two days and I no longer give a ****.

After today you will.

Shit news but meh, life goes on.

The players knew about it for a while, so they would of put it behind them. Could've been worse

When you realise that the media would rather report about 2 males having a slight argument while drunk over countries getting bombed and sick children, you soon realise that it's all about the clicks and $$

IMO this is something that absolutely should be handled in house.

If it was all due to some overenthusiastic mucking about, then the club has made it look worse with their statement.
Journalists had got hold of it, they would have sensationalised it, the club had to act and be seen to be acting.

What would a trade have looked like. 2015 2nd Rd and 2016 1st Rd for Boyd?

Surely not Boyd for Jones

Lol no idea..and a club in a rebuild like us cant afford to give up too many high draft picks for 1 player.

I dont think your proposed deal would be far off.

I know you guys traded Griffen and #6 for him, but he his value would have diminished since then since he's another year in without exactly taking the comp by storm (though steady improvement before injury) and the fact clubs would be reluctant to take on such a big salary. Possible question marks over his personality now too.

Given we finished last in 2015 and were tipped to be bottom 3 this year, i'd say our 2016 1st rnd (likely top 3 pick at the time) and a swap of 2nd rounders would have been fair. And Dogs paying about $200k a year of his salary.

Quite a stuff up by our recruiting team/list management if true. Does make sense since Beveridge did openly state he hurt his development last season.

A lot of eggs are in the Tom Boyd basket. I think he has the potential to be a rare talent, but the club will do what it feels necessary and is best for the club.

This makes me feel a bit dejected. I need Pann to tell what a prodigious talent he is and that it's all rot

But the articles appear to suggest it was less serious than the club statement implies.

FWIW it doesn't at all seem like a big issue to me. It probably isn't. I don't know.

And I personally probably wouldn't deal Boyd at the end of the year either. Just passing on what I know. If you don't believe it, or like it, so be it. I couldn't care less.

Go dogs.

Think Fronk is on the money here, totally buy that the club looked into trading him. Will they do so again? If it benefits our club, I'd be disappointed if they didn't look at it.

Barrett's sliding doors writes itself now. Worst part about all of this is that it seems Tom has now alienated some of his strongest fans, and the dressing room on top of the coach.

Leaves the people defending him looking like fools. Really disappointed.

Boyd is stuck in the VFL at the moment behind Redpath who is playing his role pretty well...

You could pay for 2 very good players with what you're paying Boyd and still demand a good player or high draft pick from the trade itself.

It would be crazy if the Dogs WEREN'T thinking about trading him.

I read the story about ten minutes ago. I've gone from "this is terrible" to "well, maybe it'll be a kick up the backside for him and maybe even others at the club" to "ffs, two 20 year olds get drunk and either punch up or get in some other strife - hold the front page".

The reality is, though, that it wouldn't be as big a story if it was Webb, or Dale, or even Bont. It's 20-year old VFL millionaire Tom Boyd getting drunk and embarrassing the club. So I'd suck it up, avoid the main board, and hope the boys give a good performance on Saturday. That's all that really matters in the short-term.

Medium-long term fronk's post is disturbing, and while I've got no reason to doubt a typically accurate source I'd be surprised if a head coach wouldn't back themselves in to mould a player like Boyd into a real asset for a young, up and coming team. You can guarantee that if he were traded, and we took a massive hit on the deal, that he'd turn into the gun many expect him to be.

Alternatively, he's an albatross around the club's neck for 5 years and we have to win a flag with less cap space than the other 17 teams. Challenge accepted! :D

I appreciate you telling us what you know Fronk. I may be on the outer, but if Bevo isn't a fan of Boyd as a footballer or as a person. Than I honestly don't see how it's going to work out.

My son is very good friends with a Giants player and when we got him he was told that Tom was aloof and had an inflated opinion of himself and was not well liked by other Giant players.

Seems like we are now hearing similar from the kennel. I guess Wayne Carey was like this at North even before the Stevens saga difference is he was a star that won them flags.

This whole situation is driving me in zaine. Hope he can pull his head in and repay the dogs for putting their head on the chopping block. Unlikely to see much this season but he needs to perform next season.

You realize he was coming back from an injury and the club was being cautious with him?

the thing that doesn't add up for me is the seemingly contrary aspects at play here. Bevo is very good at creating a gameplan/structure that fits the cattle he has, Bevo said this, and everyone else has said this... but he can't for the life of him figure out how to use a giant lummocks of a KPF....

The agility comment is pretty clear, Bevo wants a lummocks 'leading' forward. aka, Dunstall. Hence the orders for him to lose wieght... perhaps GWS had the right idea after all, make him 125kg of mountain and ensure he feels once again like he is playing in the TAC... bigger and stronger then anyone you can put on him. As it is now, he is weaker then the kpd's marking him and wouldn't have a clue how to outbody someone without simply leaning on them.

The games changed though...mobile forwards are in vogue...the power forward is basically gone. Hawkins isnt the dominant player he once was, Patton isnt setting the world on fire (i know he's had injuries)...look the best key forwards now its guys like Cameron, Lynch, Roughead, Buddy etc who are more mobile.

Fitness and running ability is very important in the modern game, key forwards can't just sit in the F50 anymore and maybe even more so in Bevo's game plan.
